Quill had gone back to be with his mother. Now, Shendu was the only one left in these ruins.
Because of the gas station explosion and the wild boar's rampage that night, all the surveillance cameras nearby had been destroyed.
To be safe, Shendu still used the Mouse Talisman's power to scout the surrounding area.
"Very good. No surveillance equipment."
After confirming that the area was secure, Shendu began chanting in a low voice. The shadow before him instantly stretched and split apart.
Several humanoid creatures emerged from Shendu's shadow.
They were thin, wore masks, and were clad head to toe in standard black skintight ninja uniforms, with only a pair of glowing crimson eyes exposed.
The Shadowkhan. This was the power Shendu had gained in his original world after absorbing the Ninja Mask.
Shendu turned to look at this personal guard of his, frowning slightly. "With my current strength, I can only summon three ninjas?"
Still, three were enough for now.
"Mr. Coulson." During the shift change the next day, Coulson appeared before an agent.
"You were involved in yesterday's explosion, weren't you? I need to know everything that happened yesterday." "Coulson" spoke to the agent in a tone that allowed no refusal. "This isn't a good place. Follow me."
The agent found it rather strange. He clearly remembered that Coulson had been at the explosion site yesterday, and given Coulson's position, he should certainly know more than he did. Why would he be asking him?
Still, the agent followed. "Coulson" must have had his reasons.
It's not like someone would turn into Agent Coulson just to harm me. That would be ridiculous.
With that thought, the agent followed the "Coulson" before him into an alley.
"You were a minute late today." When the "agent" returned to his post, his colleague reminded him, "Be more careful next time. Don't let Mr. Coulson catch you."
The "agent" nodded in response, but his colleague failed to notice a flash of red light in the eyes of the person beside him.
"Did you finish saying goodbye to your mother?" Shendu asked Quill in the temporary command center.
Under Shendu's earlier training, Quill and the others worked quickly. During this time, they had not encountered anything unusual.
"Yeah. I was reluctant to leave. I'd only just seen my mother again, and now I had to go," Quill said with a sigh. "But, you know, I have my own work to do. My teammates need me."
A roar came from the sky as a spacecraft entered their field of vision.
"My teammates are here too." Quill waved at the ship.
Shendu watched the ship's door open, and a small grayish-brown raccoon climbed out.
That raccoon looked fierce.
"Oh my god!" The raccoon leaped to Quill's side and stared at Shendu in shock, his mouth hanging open. "What kind of creature is this? I've never seen anything like it anywhere in the universe."
"This is... a raccoon?" Shendu was curious about him as well.
"Fuck your uncle!" Rocket Raccoon jumped up, trying to whack Shendu with a club.
"Calm down." Quill held Rocket Raccoon up in the air, leaving him to helplessly kick his legs in Quill's grip.
"This is for you."
Quill pulled a stone from Rocket Raccoon's backpack and handed it to Shendu. "It's an item I bought at an auction before. It can change your appearance, but be careful, it can only be used once."
Quill deliberately raised his voice when he said, "It can change your appearance." Steve, who was handing things over to the workers, glanced over curiously.
Shendu understood what he meant and accepted the stone. "Thank you."
After wrapping up the handover with S.H.I.E.L.D., Quill followed Rocket Raccoon back onto the spacecraft.
"Isn't that just an ordinary stone? What, were you trying to scam that creature?" Rocket Raccoon smacked his lips. "You're really nasty. That thing's just an ordinary glowing rock."
Quill shrugged. "I am trying to scam someone, but it's that American ass, the blond guy with the big tits."
Shendu watched Quill leave. He had a fairly good impression of this temporary ally. Even as he left, Quill had helped him screw over S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Is everything finished?"
Shendu walked over to Steve and looked at the list in his hands. It marked the quantities of various wreckage pieces and how they would be used next.
"Yeah, it's all over." Steve put away the list. "Are you going to change your appearance? That unreliable kid was pretty righteous."
Shendu took out the stone Quill had given him. Steve watched curiously. "Can this stone really do something so incredible? It doesn't look special."
"Who knows? It came from beyond Earth, after all." Shendu shrugged.
Shendu exerted force with his hand, and the stone emitted a blinding light. Steve could barely keep his eyes open as the Monkey Talisman activated.
Shendu's form shifted before Steve's eyes. When the light finally faded, the stone in his hand automatically crumbled into powder.
Steve examined the new man standing before him.
He was a tall, muscular white man with blond hair tied into a neat ponytail, blue eyes, a dark green suit, and strikingly handsome features.
"Little Dragon?" Steve called out in disbelief.
Shendu gave a slight nod. "It's me."
Shendu's current appearance was that of a former subordinate named Valmont. He found it rather satisfactory.
While Steve was still inspecting him, the sound of jets came from above.
Tony, wearing his armor, landed in front of them.
"Where's Valmont?" Tony ignored Shendu and walked straight toward Steve.
Steve pointed at Shendu beside him. "He... he's Little... Valmont."
Tony looked Shendu up and down in his new form. "Why did you turn into this? Also, why is your taste so terrible? That green suit is ugly."
"Quill gave him a transformation stone before leaving," Steve explained, recounting what had just happened.
Shendu watched from the side without interrupting. What a hopelessly nice guy.
Tony narrowed his eyes as he listened to Steve's account. He considered the possibility of the Monkey Talisman, but said nothing.
"So that's what happened." Tony put on an understanding expression.
"That's not the point. Since Valmont is here too, I can save myself the trouble of looking for you."
Steve controlled his armor to project a holographic screen. On it were the ruins of the exploded gas station.
"I went back to that gas station today and specifically scanned it with the armor. Sure enough, I found something new."
Tony adjusted the holographic display before him, enlarging a crack on the screen. The crack lay in shadow, but they could still vaguely make out a black object within it that looked like a dart.
They moved fast. They found it so quickly?
Shendu thought this, but kept a puzzled expression on his face. "What is that? It looks like a ninja dart."
Steve did not understand why Tony had shown them this either.
Tony led the two into an empty alley and said gravely, "There may really be a mole within S.H.I.E.L.D."
