Chen Nianzhi was reborn into the Chen Clan of Qingyuan Mountain, a small cultivation family in Yu Commandery. He regarded a hidden technique for gathering Primordial Purple Qi as his greatest opportunity, cultivating it in secret for more than a decade while concealing his true spiritual root. Seventh Granduncle Chen Changqing and Chen Changyan were central figures in his upbringing. Changqing left him the Green Leaf Sword, Golden Armor Talisman, and Scarlet Flame Talisman, while Chen Changyan taught him cultivation in a relationship Chen Nianzhi viewed as closer to master and disciple than grandfather and grandson. 30 31
