Nine-Dragon Pool

Qu Nishang’s spirit clam clan lived peacefully in Nine-Dragon Pool for several thousand years. Once the pool became exposed to the outside world, she asked Chen Nianzhi to build a high-rank protective formation. He constructed the Nine-Dragon Sky-Splitting Formation around her Nine-Dragon Wheel; with Qu Nishang controlling it, the formation could withstand a Half-Step Primordial Spirit attacker 639 640.

The Blood-Transforming Old Devil subsequently broke the formation with the Heavenly Demon Blood-Transforming Divine Blade. Qu Nishang escaped despite grievous injuries, but Nine-Dragon Pool was destroyed and its spirit shellfish population slaughtered. Chen Nianzhi and Jiang Linglong intervened during her pursuit, helping her drive the devil back 709 710 711.

Joining the Chen Clan

Unable to return home, Qu Nishang accepted Chen Nianzhi’s offer of refuge in the Vast Sea. She joined the Chen Clan and swore a reincarnation oath before entering its secret foundation at Heavenly Expanse Island. Qing Yin’s Earth Soul permitted her to cultivate within the island’s water vein 711.

The island’s water-element power healed her injuries and enabled her Half-Step Primordial Spirit breakthrough. She then pledged to treat the Chen Clan as her own immortal clan and protect it during Chen Nianzhi’s absence.
