History

Origins at Qingyuan Mountain

The Qingyuan Mountain line began after its ancestors slew the Azure Apes occupying Qingyuan Peak, seized the mountain's spirit vein, and established a cultivation lineage there. Qingyuan Peak contained a Tier 2 Mid-grade spirit vein, seventeen mu of spirit fields, the Clan Main Hall, and the patriarch's cultivation site at the spirit-vein spring. 1

The clan's bloodline originated in Qi Kingdom. Chen Xuanyuan, a self-established Foundation Establishment prodigy, was driven from Qi Kingdom after conflict with Ancestor Mo and established the Qingyuan Mountain branch in Chu Kingdom more than four centuries before the reconnection of the two branches. 342 343

The Beast Turmoil and decline

Sixty years before Chen Nianzhi's rise, the Chen Clan was at its height, with three Foundation Establishment ancestors and a clan leader at Foundation Establishment Grand Completion. It had spent centuries of savings to obtain a Violet Sun Jade for a Purple Mansion breakthrough. 9 15

The Beast Turmoil destroyed this prosperity. Two Foundation Establishment ancestors and much of the expeditionary force died after encountering a Tier 3 Purple Mansion demon beast; the then-clan leader and the Violet Sun Jade were also lost. Chen Changxuan, then the weakest Foundation Establishment cultivator and guardian of Qingyuan Peak, survived. 9 15

By the opening of the story, the clan's attempt to recover through a purchased Foundation Establishment Pill had failed. Sixth Elder Chen Qingmeng could not establish his foundation, while the pill had already cost the clan several Ninth Layer Qi Refining cultivators and grave injuries to its leadership. 2

Recovery under the Chang, Qing, and Nian generations

The clan repaid its debts through collective sacrifice: Chen Changxuan and Chen Qinghao sold their life-bound artifacts, Chen Nianzhi gave his remaining Spirit Stones, and the clan raised 5,673 Spirit Stones in total. 3

Its recovery accelerated through the Five Elements Essence trade, Spirit Isle Lake's Spirit Peach Tree, internal cultivation support, and victories during successive Beast Turmoils. By the time it fielded eight Foundation Establishment cultivators, it had enough resources to expand its spirit-vein holdings and revise its stipends. 116 159

The clan displaced the Lin Clan in Yu Commandery's sword duel, gaining thirty percent of Yuyang Market's annual tax dividends—over 1,500 Spirit Stones per year—and assigning Foundation Establishment cultivators to oversee its expanding territories. 66

Reunification with the Qi Kingdom branch

Chen Xuhuan and Chen Xuling of the Qi Kingdom Chen Clan arrived at Qingyuan Mountain seeking help. Chen Nianzhi used the Bloodline Tracing Art to confirm that their ancestors ten generations earlier were closely related to the Qingyuan Mountain line. 342

The Qi branch had maintained Dark Ink Mountain for eight centuries, but suffered repeated suppression and losses in Beast Turmoils. After Chen Nianzhi settled its conflict with Ancestor Mo's faction, the Qi and Chu branches agreed to reunite their genealogy and merge into the stronger Golden Core Chen Clan. Nearly three hundred selected Qi branch cultivators moved toward Chu Kingdom. 343 347 348

Expansion beyond Chu Kingdom

The clan developed the territories of Chen Kingdom, built extensive commercial networks, and became the realm's true ruling power. Its authority rested not only on high-level cultivators, but on a wide base of clan cultivators, spirit mountains, spirit fields, marketplaces, and long-term loans for internal breakthroughs. 551 642

It also restored contact with a distant Void Spirit Continent branch descended from Chen Xuanming's bloodline. Chen Nianzhi intervened when the Fang Clan attacked that branch, suppressed Fang Xuanjing, and helped Chen Linyuan begin removing the Blood-Transforming Curse Divine Seal. 647 650

Organization

Genealogy and seniority

The clan's original sixteen-character genealogy was:

Pursuing the Dao and ensuring eternity, remembering the sages and reflecting on ancestors, supporting one another to invigorate the lineage, ascending to immortality and never decaying. 1

After its rise to a Nascent Soul clan, it extended the interval between new generational characters to three hundred years. Once the sixteen-character sequence is exhausted, seniority is intended to be determined primarily by cultivation realm rather than bloodline generation. 556

  • Chen Qinghao — Managed clan affairs as Third Elder during the recovery period. After returning through reincarnation, he again assumed responsibility for administration in the Immortal Domain. 1 1635
