Background

Chen Fan was an ordinary person who transmigrated to the Douluo Continent. At Morgan Town, he awakened the Book of Darkness and chose innate soul power of 9000, an extreme starting talent that immediately distinguished him from the other children. Su Yuntao brought him toward Spirit Hall after his Soul Power Crystal shattered during testing. 1 3

Bibi Dong took an interest in Chen Fan’s potential and brought him into Spirit Hall. He selected Spirit Hall from the available faction choices, though he originally wanted to strengthen support-type Soul Masters. Hu Liena became his early instructor in Soul Power control; he learned the initial application of Soul Power in under twenty minutes. 6 7

After six years of cultivation, Chen Fan had developed killing techniques, Soul Power armor, and proficiency with the Book of Darkness’s degradation ability. He later left Spirit Hall for Suotuo City and became entangled with Shrek Academy, Tang San, Xiao Wu, and the Clear Sky Sect. 8 9

Chen Fan conquered the Clear Sky Sect by forcing its members to choose submission or annihilation, using his knowledge of Tang Chen’s whereabouts as leverage. He reorganized the sect, punished Tang Hao, brought back the Four Single-Attribute Clans, and became its Sect Master. 42 43 59
