Background

Queen Medusa was raised by the Snake People Tribe’s High Priest, who served as both her teacher and maternal guardian. As queen, Medusa devoted herself to improving the tribe’s survival prospects in the Tagor Desert, whose fire-heavy environment was particularly hostile to snake people with cold and yin attributes. 120 121 268

With the High Priest’s old injuries threatening to leave the tribe without a Dou Zong protector, Medusa resolved to evolve through Heavenly Flames despite the method’s extremely low survival rate. She believed the tribe needed a young, powerful Dou Zong before its situation became irreversible. 120 121

Her search for a Heavenly Flame brought her into contact with Wang Chen. Though she initially approached him to borrow his flame, she recognized the danger he represented and chose negotiation over direct conflict.
