Background / History

Rhodes Island presents itself as a politically neutral pharmaceutical organization focused chiefly on Oripathy research and treatment, with additional engineering and physics projects. Its public-facing research program appears small and scattered compared with major institution-backed corporations, while its employees often have politically sensitive backgrounds. 15

Its main Landship began in a rudimentary state: after Kal'tsit discovered Nana, a shell was placed onto its chassis and rushed out for recruitment, even though the vessel was still years from full completion. Its early wards were crowded with equipment, and much of the ship remained unfinished. 26

The Landship also carries the legacy of Babel. Survivors recall its keel being excavated by the Kazdel Council's engineering team and view the completed vessel as the realization of Theresa's promise to create a home for displaced people. 143

Following the Ticarondo Incident, Rhodes Island expanded its cooperation with Blacksteel Worldwide, accepted displaced Infected personnel, and became Blacksteel's largest supplier of Originium inhibitors. 73 It later entered Ursus under authorization from the Emperor to distribute medicine, provide medical services, and conduct Oripathy outreach, despite the political risks of being associated with an Ursus faction. 70

During the approaching Catastrophe in Ticarondo, Rhodes Island seeks outside support, attempts to coordinate evacuation efforts, and works alongside Blacksteel personnel under a government commission. 39 47

Ursus Public-Outreach Mission

Rhodes Island enters Ursus under Imperial authorization to distribute medicine and promote Oripathy awareness. Its mission is politically precarious: success could expand medical access across Ursus, while failure could leave Rhodes Island blamed by both authorities and Infected communities. 70

The organization shelters and treats Yetis, Shieldguards, mercenaries, and other refugees aboard the Exploration Vehicle. It develops rules, welfare structures, and probationary access procedures to integrate new arrivals without surrendering control of its internal order. 106 109

Reunion Movement Cooperation

Rhodes Island establishes a temporary clinic in the Reunion settlement and provides medical treatment while negotiating with Patriot, FrostNova, and Talulah. 119 121

Chernobog Operations

Rhodes Island enters Chernobog amid conflict between local authorities, the Third Army, and Ursus noble factions. It cooperates with the Chernobog Military Police to restore light-rail supply routes and later repairs the city's power system through the Sarcophagus. 224 229

After restoring power and helping contain Collapse Pollution, Rhodes Island spends two months recovering, disposing of contaminated bodies, and securing goodwill from Chernobog residents. 230

Lungmen Cooperation

Rhodes Island's entry into Lungmen is initially obstructed by permit revocations, communications blocks, and official scrutiny of its military equipment. 273 274
