Background / History

Zhunti and his senior brother Jie Yin considered recruiting Qing Xuanzi into the Western Sect after witnessing his rapid cultivation progress. Zhunti later approached Qing Xuanzi directly, seeking to recruit both him and the Three Thousand Congenital Humans. 3 5

Qing Xuanzi agreed only after requiring Zhunti and Jie Yin to swear a Heavenly Dao oath: they could neither force the Human Race into the Western Sect nor expel Qing Xuanzi from it. Zhunti accepted the terms in his eagerness to secure Qing Xuanzi, and the pair also surrendered the Twelve-Petal Golden Lotus. 5 6

The arrangement was a trap engineered with Hongjun's involvement. Heavenly punishment struck Zhunti and Jie Yin after Qing Xuanzi joined as the Western Sect's Third Sect Leader, and they were forced to expel him to avoid death. 6

Personality

Zhunti is ambitious and opportunistic, repeatedly seeking gains for the Western Sect through recruitment, treasure disputes, and intervention in other factions' affairs. His eagerness for advantage often makes him rash, most notably when he accepted Qing Xuanzi's oath conditions without grasping their consequences. 5 6

He is also prone to anger when humiliated or outmaneuvered. His confrontations with Qing Xuanzi expose a lack of restraint, while his willingness to kneel before Hongjun and later seek Qing Xuanzi's help demonstrates that self-preservation outweighs pride when the stakes become severe. 13 29 84

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recruitment of Qing Xuanzi

Zhunti's attempt to bring Qing Xuanzi and the Congenital Human Race into the Western Sect ends in disaster. The oath he and Jie Yin swear prevents them from retaining Qing Xuanzi under their own terms, costs them the Twelve-Petal Golden Lotus, and leaves them subject to Heavenly punishment. 5 6

Conflict with Qing Xuanzi

Zhunti repeatedly clashes with Qing Xuanzi over captured Immortal Court members and the Human Race's authority. When Zhunti moves to take the captives, Qing Xuanzi's status draws the support of Laozi, Tongtian, Yuanshi, and Nüwa; Hongjun ends the confrontation after Zhunti begs for mercy. 13

His resentment persists in later disputes, including opposition to Qing Xuanzi's plans surrounding the Red Lotus of Karma Fire. 26 29

Violations and Defeats

Zhunti tries to convert the Heaven Division, but his breach of the prior Heavenly Dao oath triggers a Heavenly Tribulation. 61

Heavenly Court Appointment

The Heavenly Dao appoints Zhunti and Jie Yin as Lords of the Heavenly Court, binding them to face Heavenly Tribulation should they lose a battle. Finding the Heavenly Court empty and unable to restore it, they appeal to Hongjun and then Qing Xuanzi. Qing Xuanzi orders them to resign and assist Haotian instead. 84

Qing Xuanzi subsequently creates Dao Bodies for Zhunti and Jie Yin, granting them the freedom of Mixed Origin Great Luo Golden Immortals while ordering them to monitor their original bodies for possession. 86

Heavenly Dao Puppet

During the confrontation with the Chaos Demon Gods, Heavenly Dao clones are left behind to possess Zhunti and Jie Yin. The possessed pair enter battle wielding Mixed Origin Taiji power, serving the Heavenly Dao's effort to shift the burden of combat onto Qing Xuanzi's side. 90
