Background

Sukuna was originally a being from a thousand years ago whose preserved remains retained immense cursed energy. Uraume later recovered his mummified head, referred to as the Living Buddha, for him to consume as a substitute for his missing final finger. The remains restored Sukuna to near—or possibly beyond—his historical peak. 36

By the time of the decisive conflict, Sukuna had incarnated in Megumi Fushiguro's body and driven Megumi's soul into a suppressed inner domain. This granted him access to the Ten Shadows Technique while leaving Megumi imprisoned within him. 35 39

Appearance

Sukuna inhabits Megumi Fushiguro's body, marked by black curse markings and four scarlet eyes. In combat, he manifests four arms and an overwhelmingly oppressive cursed-energy presence. 35 36

Personality

Sukuna is contemptuous, cruel, and entertained by powerful opposition. He dismisses weaker opponents as insects or prey, yet becomes intensely engaged when confronted with abilities he cannot immediately understand or overpower. 18 19 38

His arrogance repeatedly affects his decisions. He initially refuses to summon Mahoraga against Shiyue, considering him unworthy, but finally deploys it after Shiyue infiltrates his body and disrupts his cursed-energy control. 39

Shibuya Incident

Sukuna appeared in Shibuya after sensing Megumi's Mahoraga subjugation ritual. He effortlessly destroyed Shiyue's Rat Talisman mechanical army, confirmed Megumi was alive, and fought Mahoraga amid the destruction of Shibuya. 18

After Malevolent Shrine devastated the district, Sukuna confronted Shiyue at the Domain's edge. Shiyue wounded him with combined Dragon and Pig Talisman attacks before Sukuna's control receded and Yuji regained consciousness. 18 19

Return in Megumi's Body

After taking Megumi's body, Sukuna confronted Gojo and Shiyue. Gojo halted the encounter and arranged their decisive battle for December 24, while Sukuna used the intervening month to consume his ancient remains and strengthen himself. 35 36

Shinjuku Decisive Battle

Sukuna faced Shiyue first in Shinjuku. Shiyue neutralized Dismantle, survived Sukuna's physical attacks through the Horse Talisman, and countered with speed, strength, invisibility, telekinesis, flames, and Heat Vision. 38

Sukuna used Flame Arrow, Agito, and eventually Mahoraga. Although Mahoraga adapted to Heat Vision, Shiyue destroyed it before it could complete further adaptations. 39 40

Shiyue then forced his way into Sukuna's inner domain, awakened Megumi's will, and extracted Sukuna from Megumi's body. Sukuna was reduced to a cursed object and hidden through the Snake Talisman's conceptual concealment. 41
