Background / History

Kaguya guarded the God Tree alone for hundreds of years. When its fruit ripened, she consumed it, but was immediately hunted by other Ōtsutsuki. Unable to control her new power, she was struck by a technique and later awakened within Chiya Uchiha's body rather than in her own. She retained only an incomplete consciousness and chakra remnant. Before arriving in Chiya, she had never interacted with humans and regarded them as beings “destined for extinction.” 12

She first meets Chiya in his pale-blue inner world on the night of the Uchiha massacre. Initially indifferent and silent, she sends him back to the physical world after his fatal wound begins healing. Though she is not sealed within him, she survives by inhabiting his mental space. 1

Kaguya repeatedly spends her own chakra to preserve Chiya's life, including healing his injuries after Root attacks and Kakashi's Lightning Cutter. Chiya eventually realizes that these interventions have prevented her from recovering from the wounds she sustained before entering his body. 12 17 43

After gaining chakra from the Three-Tails and a portion of the One-Tail, Kaguya becomes more stable and creates the chakra mark on Chiya's palm. The mark later becomes known as a Pseudo-Karma, retaining part of her Ōtsutsuki chakra and Byakugan ocular power. 72 96 204

When an Ōtsutsuki named Shiki locates her through Chiya, Kaguya concludes that her incomplete state cannot withstand the threat. She leaves Chiya to search for her original body, transferring her remaining power to him before departing. 123 125 126

After six months of searching across unfamiliar spaces, Kaguya is reunited with Chiya through the Pseudo-Karma. Pursued by another Ōtsutsuki with superior spatial control, she converts herself into chakra and enters the mark to return with him, leaving herself unconscious and weakened once more. 169 170 171

Appearance

Kaguya is an otherworldly woman with long white hair, pale skin, white robes, Byakugan, and horns protruding from her forehead. Her appearance becomes translucent and mist-like whenever her chakra is depleted. 1 17 43

  • Long white hair that can trail to the floor or her feet. 12 72
  • White Byakugan with visible veins around her eyes when activated. 1 100
  • White robes; these are often visibly torn after her dimensional search and confrontations. 169 171
  • Forehead horns, also reproduced when Chiya channels her chakra to impersonate her or enters Kaguya Chakra Mode. 101 193
  • Her inner-world manifestation progresses from faint and unstable to physically solid after absorbing the Three-Tails' chakra. 43 72

Personality

Kaguya initially treats Chiya with detached curiosity rather than empathy. She speaks little, dismisses humans as insignificant, and reacts coldly whenever Chiya evades her questions about how he knows her. 1 12

Her time with Chiya gradually reveals a blunt, easily irritated nature. She complains about the danger surrounding him, calls him an idiot, and frequently ejects him from their mental space when he becomes too noisy. 12 43 57

Despite her aloofness, she repeatedly prioritizes Chiya's safety over her own recovery. She becomes jealous after Temari kisses him, protects him from Ōtsutsuki pursuers, and eventually accepts his vow to accompany her in finding her original body. 100 123 170 171

Abilities & Skills

Chakra Manifestation and Healing

Kaguya can manifest cold white chakra through Chiya's body, rapidly closing severe wounds and forcing embedded weapons from his flesh.

  • Healed Chiya after Root ninjas impaled him with kunai. 12
  • Healed his Lightning Cutter wound despite her own weakened condition. 17
  • Her healing and chakra transfers consume her limited reserves, making repeated intervention dangerous to her. 17 43
  • She believes she can heal Chiya's damaged Mangekyō Sharingan once she possesses sufficient chakra. 43

Chakra Absorption and Pseudo-Karma

Kaguya can absorb chakra through the diamond-shaped mark she leaves on Chiya's palm.

  • Absorbed most of the Three-Tails' chakra, reducing it to a small, weakened turtle-like form. 71 72
  • Seized and absorbed part of the One-Tail's chakra before the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path could drain it completely. 96
  • The mark makes chakra absorption easier and later serves as a conduit between Kaguya and Chiya across worlds. 72 170
  • It contains part of Kaguya's Ōtsutsuki chakra and Byakugan ocular power. 204

Possession and Chakra Bestowal

Kaguya can assume partial control of Chiya's body or lend him her chakra without fully manifesting.

  • Controlled Chiya's hand to demonstrate how to create a Flying Thunder God formula. 87
  • Took control of his left hand to fire a compressed white chakra cannon that destroyed Deidara's Clay Bird. 95
  • Can envelop Chiya in Kaguya Chakra Mode, granting him flight, a white robe, a horn, and greatly enhanced chakra output. 193
  • Her Pseudo-Karma-enhanced chakra allows Chiya's High Plain of Heaven to freeze a substantially wider area. 194

Space-Time Ninjutsu

Kaguya possesses advanced spatial abilities and understands space-time techniques instinctively.

  • Identifies the Flying Thunder God as a space-time technique and later guides Chiya's training. 43 87 88
  • Opens Yomotsu Hirasaka to travel between worlds and escape immediate danger. 169
  • Can forcibly cross spaces that were not originally connected, though doing so leaves detectable spatial traces and rapidly drains her incomplete consciousness. 171
  • Is unable to open Yomotsu Hirasaka when an opponent fully seals the surrounding space. 170

Offensive Techniques

Kaguya retains access to devastating Ōtsutsuki techniques, although her incomplete state limits their effectiveness.

  • Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack — Creates immense white fist-shaped phantoms to defend Chiya from an Ōtsutsuki pursuer. 123
  • All-Killing Ash Bones — Secretly launches a gray-white bone spike through a spatial slit, impaling an Ōtsutsuki clone and causing his body to crumble. 124
  • White Chakra Cannon — Compresses white chakra in Chiya's palm into a powerful beam-like blast. 95

Byakugan Support

Kaguya's Byakugan enables her to inspect chakra pathways and internal bodily conditions.

  • Assists Chiya in avoiding vital blood vessels and chakra pathways while implanting a Rinnegan into his palm. 208
  • Examines the fusion of Hashirama Cells in Chiya's body and warns that the Rinnegan may cause those cells to lose control. 207

Relationships

  • Chiya Uchiha — Her host, partner, and eventual lover. She repeatedly saves him at the cost of her own recovery, while Chiya dedicates himself to restoring her original body and protecting her from the Ōtsutsuki Clan. 12 43 125 171
  • Black Zetsu — Mistakes her for the Kaguya of this world and calls her “Mother.” Kaguya recognizes that his power resembles hers but has never seen him before. 100 101
  • Ōtsutsuki Shiki — An Ōtsutsuki pursuing Kaguya after detecting the source of her chakra; his clone nearly extracts her from Chiya before she destroys it with All-Killing Ash Bones. 124 125
  • Temari — Kaguya becomes openly jealous after learning that Temari kissed Chiya. 100
  • Tsunade — Tsunade's medical chakra inadvertently awakens Kaguya from dormancy; Kaguya later assists Chiya while he undergoes a dangerous Rinnegan implantation. 43 207
