Background / History

Kaguya guarded the God Tree alone for hundreds of years. When its fruit ripened, she consumed it, but was immediately hunted by other Ōtsutsuki. Unable to control her new power, she was struck by a technique and later awakened within Chiya Uchiha's body rather than in her own. She retained only an incomplete consciousness and chakra remnant. Before arriving in Chiya, she had never interacted with humans and regarded them as beings “destined for extinction.” 12

She first meets Chiya in his pale-blue inner world on the night of the Uchiha massacre. Initially indifferent and silent, she sends him back to the physical world after his fatal wound begins healing. Though she is not sealed within him, she survives by inhabiting his mental space. 1

Kaguya repeatedly spends her own chakra to preserve Chiya's life, including healing his injuries after Root attacks and Kakashi's Lightning Cutter. Chiya eventually realizes that these interventions have prevented her from recovering from the wounds she sustained before entering his body. 12 17 43

After gaining chakra from the Three-Tails and a portion of the One-Tail, Kaguya becomes more stable and creates the chakra mark on Chiya's palm. The mark later becomes known as a Pseudo-Karma, retaining part of her Ōtsutsuki chakra and Byakugan ocular power. 72 96 204

When an Ōtsutsuki named Shiki locates her through Chiya, Kaguya concludes that her incomplete state cannot withstand the threat. She leaves Chiya to search for her original body, transferring her remaining power to him before departing. 123 125 126

After six months of searching across unfamiliar spaces, Kaguya is reunited with Chiya through the Pseudo-Karma. Pursued by another Ōtsutsuki with superior spatial control, she converts herself into chakra and enters the mark to return with him, leaving herself unconscious and weakened once more. 169 170 171

Appearance

Kaguya is an otherworldly woman with long white hair, pale skin, white robes, Byakugan, and horns protruding from her forehead. Her appearance becomes translucent and mist-like whenever her chakra is depleted. 1 17 43

Personality

Kaguya initially treats Chiya with detached curiosity rather than empathy. She speaks little, dismisses humans as insignificant, and reacts coldly whenever Chiya evades her questions about how he knows her. 1 12

Her time with Chiya gradually reveals a blunt, easily irritated nature. She complains about the danger surrounding him, calls him an idiot, and frequently ejects him from their mental space when he becomes too noisy. 12 43 57

Despite her aloofness, she repeatedly prioritizes Chiya's safety over her own recovery. She becomes jealous after Temari kisses him, protects him from Ōtsutsuki pursuers, and eventually accepts his vow to accompany her in finding her original body. 100 123 170 171
