Background / History

Sephiroth was born in Water 7 to a wealthy family; his father was a shipyard purchasing manager and shareholder. His mother died while he was young. At fourteen, the Beast Pirates attacked at sea, his father died protecting him, and Sephiroth was shipwrecked on a deserted island. The loss drove his desire for strength and revenge against the Beast Pirates, particularly Queen 9 39 234.

After obtaining the Mythical Zoan-type Bat Fruit, Sephiroth began extreme sword training. He chose swordsmanship partly to avoid the danger of direct contact with Sea Stone, which could neutralize an Ability User in hand-to-hand combat. His early training was so severe that completing 13,000 swings consumed roughly half a month of his lifespan 7.

He joined the Marines through recruit training at G-3 Branch and attended Marineford Military Academy. Under Bogard and Zephyr’s instruction, he developed his swordsmanship, physical techniques, and Haki, graduating as the top student of his class 24 153.

While serving in the Marines, Sephiroth built the Umbrella Corporation into a major commercial and research organization. It acquired weapon-Devil Fruit technology, produced Memory Alloy, developed intelligence networks, and expanded into Sky Island and the underworld 72 113 313.

During an infiltration of Wano Country under the identity of Miyamoto Musashi, Sephiroth founded the Miyamoto Family, expanded it into a major Flower Capital underworld force, and secretly worked against Kurozumi Orochi. He evacuated villagers targeted by Orochi to Sky Island and eventually relocated thousands more after his identity was exposed 202 212 234.

Appearance

Sephiroth is a silver-haired young man with pale skin, blue eyes, and a demonically handsome yet gloomy appearance shaped by his continued Vampire Fruit development. He commonly wears suits, black leather clothing, or a Marine justice coat, often carrying two swords 110 128 175.

He is intensely driven by the need for power, initially motivated by revenge for his father’s death and fear of losing what he values. Although he can be ruthless and indifferent toward pirates, he is willing to protect civilians and defy orders when he considers them unacceptable, as shown by his covert rescue of Wano villagers 9 79 212.

He is also intellectually curious, pursuing research into Lineage Factors, Devil Fruits, weapon forging, and ancient technology. His Blood Memory ability lets him learn from others’ knowledge, strengthening his scientific work 72 309.
