Enhancement

By the time the five of them had nearly finished discussing matters, a staff member knocked on the door. Since Howard had given prior instructions, they would only come to disturb them if it was important.

Howard got up and opened the door. After asking about it, he learned that the experimental chamber had been installed. It was originally supposed to become useless after today, but Han Lin's appearance had changed history. Tonight, Han Lin would inject himself with the Super Soldier Serum and undergo self-enhancement.

The serum optimized by Dr. Erskine and Han Lin would improve Steve more than it would improve the current Han Lin, giving him roughly five times the physical capabilities of an ordinary person.

During the preliminary experiments, Han Lin had conducted many tests on whether the Super Soldier Serum and the Blacklight Virus could coexist. He had confirmed that the serum was useful to him, but no one knew exactly how useful it would be until Han Lin tried it himself.

Steve had used six doses of serum during the day, while one additional dose had been used to lure out the rat. However, after Han Lin and the doctor completed their research, they had prepared twenty-four doses of serum as backups.

Fearing that the dosage would be insufficient, Han Lin requested that eight doses of serum be injected into his body.

"Massive biological energy detected. Blacklight Virus enhancement in progress. 10%... 20%... 70%... 80%. Insufficient energy. Further energy injection required."

Hearing the notification, Han Lin quickly said, "Howard, keep injecting it. This is very important to me. Hurry."

Dr. Erskine hurriedly said, "That's suicide! You've already exceeded the dosage by thirty percent. If we increase it any further, I think you'll die. We calculated the safe dosage together!"

Han Lin quickly replied, "Yes, we calculated the safe dosage, but Doctor, you've forgotten that I'm at least four times stronger than an ordinary person. I can feel my body craving energy. If we stop the injection now, I won't receive even the slightest enhancement, and the medicine will be wasted. So I need you to keep injecting it. I need ten more doses of serum on top of what I've already received. Trust me, I can do this. I wouldn't gamble with my own life!"

Seeing that eight doses of serum corresponded to eighty percent energy, Han Lin knew that two more doses were needed to fill the energy bar. Then, with another eight doses of serum to enhance himself, he would obtain perfect enhancement.

Dr. Erskine looked at the confident Han Lin and said hesitantly, "We only have nine doses of serum left. There aren't any more."

Han Lin froze for a moment, hesitating over whether to enhance himself directly or strengthen the virus first before enhancing his body later.

In less than ten seconds, Han Lin decided to enhance himself directly. "Inject them all. I need them now."

As the nine doses of Super Soldier Serum were injected, the energy bar rose again.

"90%... 100%... Blacklight Virus enhancement successful. Current level: Tier Two. Body enhancement activated. A large amount of excess biological energy has been detected within the host. Enhancement integrated into the host's body."

Once the injection was complete, Howard immediately sealed the experimental chamber and activated the Life Ray.

Han Lin once again experienced the feeling of his body being torn apart. Every inch of muscle and every cell was being strengthened by the Tier Two Blacklight Virus. On top of that were the seven extra doses of Super Soldier Serum Han Lin had injected. A massive energy storm now swept through every cell in his body, letting them die and be reborn with even greater power.

Low growls sounded from within the experimental chamber, and the four people outside broke out in cold sweats. Han Lin had actually been leading them recently. Because of his half-true, half-false prophecies, they understood that he was someone capable of changing the future. With someone like him in the organization, they felt the future world could become better.

The low growls gradually subsided.

The machine Howard had adjusted did not trip again. Once the white light faded, everyone opened the experimental chamber and welcomed Han Lin out. Looking at Han Lin, who had grown even taller, his sculpted muscles covered in beads of sweat, they were all astonished. He had endured a total of seventeen doses of Super Soldier Serum, nearly three times Steve's amount, relying on his willpower alone.

Agent Carter saw that Han Lin did not dare grip anything with his hands, and she knew that his improvement this time must have been enormous. Han Lin, who had only just managed to control his strength, was not the kind of person who would lose control whenever his power increased. Unless the increase had simply been too great!

"I need a room, and then I need some rest." The excruciating pain of the enhancement had left Han Lin mentally exhausted, and he wanted to rest as soon as possible.

Looking at his status panel, Han Lin knew that this enhancement had brought a fundamental improvement. His physical attributes had increased threefold, across the board.

Looking at the newly unlocked skills, Han Lin felt somewhat conflicted about the abilities of Devourer and Regeneration Level Two. He watched the faint red glow flickering beneath his skin.

Han Lin knew that he had unlocked a skill he was not particularly fond of: devouring other people. It always felt inhuman, and it would also bring the other person's memories with it. He felt that such a skill would turn him into a madman. Obtaining another person's memories—wasn't that anti-human? And he could even become that person.

Honestly, in the real world, Han Lin was the kind of person who would avoid using such a skill whenever possible. After all, no one wanted to have their mind overwhelmed by someone else's memories.

Han Lin's eyes lit up. If that was the case, then the Devourer skill could still be used. What stood before Han Lin now was how to eliminate Hydra's threat as quickly as possible amid the war-torn Second World War.

What Han Lin did not know was whether Hydra's energy guns could harm him.

The ammunition used to power those energy weapons was a product of Dr. Zola's research into the Cosmic Cube under Schmidt's orders. The Cosmic Cube also had another name: "Infinite Energy." Han Lin felt there was no need to test his own strength by directly coming into contact with something so destructive.
