In the early morning Great Hall, Kane drank some steaming rice porridge, and every sip made his mouth sting.

"Uh, I need to make a trip to Madam Pomfrey later." Kane conjured a small mirror and looked at the nasty little white spot inside his lip.

"Is it a hormonal imbalance? Or a vitamin deficiency?" Hermione glanced into the mirror. "Just eat more vegetables."

"Vegetables do wizards no good. I'll just drink a potion later and solve it in one go." Kane shook his head.

"Then you'd better hurry. Professor McGonagall's class is first today," Ron reminded him.

"Mm-hm..." Kane answered, then noticed something strange. Why was Harry so quiet today? He had not made a sound.

He glanced in Harry's direction and saw that, when the flood of Owls had arrived earlier, Harry had received a travel magazine and was checking whether there were ferries or flights to the area near the Arctic. The Floo Network would work too.

He really needed a broom as powerful as Kane's Mantis Shrimp.
