Kane carried the two horns up and greeted the horned hat. "Aha, how did you end up on the floor?"
Then one of the horned hat's horns suddenly fell off...
Well, it seemed Mr. Horned Hat's durability had hit zero.
Before he could salvage the horns from the hat to remake it in winter, or perhaps make a sewing kit out of them later, the hat's second owner automatically found her way back.
"I thought some other students had picked it up. So it was with you."
Luna appeared around the corner at the end of the bookshelves and said dazedly.
"Mm-hmm. How did this hat end up here?" Kane asked, shaking the horned hat with only one horn left.
"Maybe it was a game of hiding things? It's just a shame the horned hat seems to be broken."
The moment Kane heard Luna's answer, the corners of his mouth began twitching uncontrollably. All right, he felt Luna might be a little crazier than he was. After all, he had never considered taking a classmate's belongings and hiding them somewhere else to be a game rather than bullying.
Just as he was about to say something—such as whether she needed him to hang the little wizards bullying her from the ceiling in the middle of the night—he remembered that Luna's father ran his newspaper at a loss, not for anything else but purely out of love. Yet these little wizards were bullying his daughter inside Hogwarts. What bastards! Those evil little wizards—he would deal with them personally!
Before Kane could say it, Luna shook her head. "But don't worry. I already know who hid it here."
"When the time comes, I'll hide his things too. Um... that's all."
Kane raised his eyebrows. Very good. Luna was not crazier than him
