The Spell That Controls the Moon

"Obviously, Cornelius, the young wizards do not think this is a good idea." Dumbledore shrugged at Fudge, perhaps thinking that would make Fudge abandon this immature notion.

But perhaps the truly immature one was Dumbledore. He actually thought a politician like Fudge had a brain? Was there anything more immature than that?

As Fudge stormed off with Kingsley, Dumbledore sat down in his chair somewhat helplessly.

Fudge's attitude was firm. On September 29th, the Dementors would report to Hogwarts. Their visit today had merely been to notify Dumbledore, not to discuss it with him.

"Tut, tut, tut..." Kane looked at the outwardly calm Dumbledore and shook his head helplessly. "You just let those two leave? Completely unscathed?"

"What did they do wrong?" Dumbledore asked in return.

"They want to throw Dementors into Hogwarts. I don't know what those things are, but they don't sound like anything good. And that attitude of theirs... Could it be there's someone stronger than you in the Wizarding World?"

Dumbledore's expression changed after Kane said that. It changed even more dramatically than when Fudge had confronted him directly, and it was just a little frightening.

"So..." Dumbledore slowly said, "Kane, do you think that because you possess great power, you can trample on others without restraint?"

Kane shook his head. "That isn't acting without restraint. It's that Fudge made the wrong decision."

As Dumbledore pushed a plate of snacks toward Kane, he said, "You should get to the point. You clearly know that what I want to ask is not whether Fudge was right or wrong."

"Emmm, what do you think?" Kane asked with a raised brow.

"The strong cannot be completely free and unfettered. On the contrary, they should be constrained," Dumbledore answered.

"Then being strong sure sounds exhausting."
