After a gray-robed disciple triggers an explosion to draw back the guardian beast of a mysterious sapling, Wen Jian and Shen Yuxi are pursued by the beast. Shen Yuxi carries Wen Jian by sword flight despite sustaining injuries, and Wen Jian later assists Ye Jingxuan with detoxification. 48 49

Although disturbed by the gray-robed disciple's actions, Wen Jian comes to accept Shen Yuxi's reminder that the secret realm is a place where opportunists and dangers cannot be avoided. 50

Twin-Life Tree and Sword Tomb

Wen Jian preserves the spirit sapling recovered during the secret-realm expedition in Spirit Medicine Peak's North Garden. When Shen Yuxi later visits with Wang Hui, Wen Jian learns that the seemingly fragile sapling is a Twin-Life Tree, a species of immense importance to the Profound Heaven Sect. 147 148

He accompanies Shen Yuxi and Wang Hui into the Sword Tomb, where Wang Hui protects him from the overwhelming ambient Sword Qi. Through Shen Yuxi's Heart Voice, Wen Jian also learns that the Twin-Life Tree's tree spirit is named Guan Cang. 148 149
