Background / History

Rayleigh rescued Shakky during the God Valley Incident. While fleeing with her, he encountered Vikengam, who offered his status as a Celestial Dragon as cover for their escape. Though initially distrustful, Rayleigh accepted the plan, held a sword to Vikengam’s neck to make the abduction convincing, and brought him aboard the Roger Pirates’ ship. 15

Following God Valley, Rayleigh supported Vikengam’s admission to the crew and assigned him management of the ship’s library. He became the primary recorder for Vikengam’s translations of Ancient Language and Poneglyph rubbings. 19 20

Throughout the crew’s search for Laugh Tale, Rayleigh helped interpret the history uncovered from the Poneglyphs, including the ancient weapons, Davy D. Jones, Joy Boy, Imu, and the role of Elbaf. 33 55 132
