Background / History
Chiu Chiu escaped from Golden Lion's “Strong World” IQ experiment, which granted him human speech and the ability to produce golden lightning. Before joining the Moss Pirates, he was held in Pock's slaughterhouse as an experimental subject. 12 14
After Mark found him at the White Ghost Pirates' factory, Chiu Chiu attacked with lightning but was subdued when Mark used Dark Water to absorb the attack. Given the choice between becoming barbecue or joining Mark's crew, he chose recruitment. Mark attempted to rename him “Mouth Cannon,” though the crew continued to call him Chiu Chiu. 14 15
He adapted to crew life almost immediately, largely because of Mark's cooking. Although initially placed at the bottom of the ship's hierarchy and assigned dishwashing duties, he became a dependable combatant and transport specialist. 15 16
Appearance
Chiu Chiu is a large golden-feathered eagle whose appearance is enhanced by the electricity that crackles across his wings in flight. 16
- Stands roughly five feet tall with his neck extended. 16
- Has a wingspan of nearly fifteen feet. 16
- Possesses sharp talons and wings capable of cutting opponents. 16 19
- Leaves golden lightning trails when flying at speed. 16 18
Personality
Chiu Chiu is talkative, food-motivated, vain about his appearance, and proud of his combat strength. He eagerly joined Mark because he could not resist the captain's cooking, and he frequently complains when given labor such as dishwashing or carrying supplies. 15 35
Despite his comedic behavior, he is loyal and responsive in battle. He promised Daisy that he would protect Mark, rescued Mark during Tina's attack, and repeatedly carries out reconnaissance or aerial support without hesitation. 16 20 38
His first experience killing Marines prompted him to question whether they were innocent, showing that he initially had moral reservations about Mark's methods. Mark's explanation of pirate ethics left him uncertain rather than fully convinced. 16

Trivia
- Chiu Chiu's 10-Beli bounty was issued because the World Government undervalues pet-type pirate crew members, despite his combat ability. 31
- Mark estimated that Chiu Chiu's actual strength could warrant a bounty of roughly 40–50 million Beli. 19
- He considers food a major priority, including during dangerous situations such as the crossing of Reverse Mountain. 39
- His attempted pirate-flag design was simply a large bird, prompting Mark to say it had “absolutely nothing” to do with a pirate flag. 24
