Background & History

Within the Heavenly Screen's simulation, Qian Xunji arrives to bring his disciple Bibi Dong back to Spirit Hall after she declares her feelings for Bai Fan, then using the identity of Yu Xiaogang. He considers Bai Fan unworthy of her and dismisses his ideals as empty fantasies. 5 6

When Bai Fan vows to surpass him, Qian Xunji humiliates him, pins him down, and threatens to cripple him. He only relents after Bibi Dong agrees to return to Spirit Hall. 6

Four years later, Qian Xunji arranges a public wedding with Bibi Dong despite knowing she still loves Bai Fan. Bai Fan interrupts the ceremony, and Qian Xunji responds with violence, accuses the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect of conspiracy, and attempts to kill him. 11

Bibi Dong agrees to marry Qian Xunji in exchange for Bai Fan's life. After their wedding, an unknown force interrupts Qian Xunji's attempt to force himself on her, leaving him impotent and increasingly volatile. 12 17 The Heavenly Screen later exposes him as the former Pope who raped Bibi Dong, provoking continent-wide condemnation. 10

As Bai Fan's Republic Empire grows, Qian Xunji chooses to let its forces clash with the two great empires so that Spirit Hall can profit from the conflict. He also keeps Bibi Dong captive and tortures her to provoke Bai Fan into entering a trap. 24 33

Bai Fan ultimately confronts him at Spirit Hall. Qian Xunji unleashes his Ninth Soul Skill, Angelic Glory, but Bai Fan detonates his first five Soul Rings, attaches multiple lotus techniques to him, and drives the Yin-Yang Azure Lotus through his heart. Qian Xunji begs for mercy before the lotus's ice-and-fire power destroys him from within. 35

His attachment to Bibi Dong is possessive rather than respectful. He cannot accept that she loves Bai Fan, treats her choice as ingratitude, and attempts to control her through confinement, abuse, and threats against the man she loves. 11 12 24 33

He is also politically calculating when it benefits Spirit Hall. Rather than immediately confronting Bai Fan's expanding movement, he intends to exploit a war between the Republic Empire and the two great empires. 24
