Background / History

In the first Heavenly Screen simulation, a young Bibi Dong encounters Bai Fan—then living as Yu Xiaogang—at a sugar-cake stall in Spirit City. Curious after seeing him flee without enough money, she follows and deliberately frightens him for amusement. She introduces herself as Bibi Dong, begins calling him “Gangzi,” and declares that she will protect him within Spirit City. 3 4

Bibi Dong joins Bai Fan on his travels. When he and Little Golden Dragon are ambushed, she possesses the Death Spider Emperor Martial Soul and kills an attacker before saving Bai Fan from a second sneak attack. She also treats the wound he receives while shielding her. 4 5

Over several months, Bibi Dong teaches Bai Fan practical combat methods and a self-created technique that converts blood, vitality, and spiritual power into a remotely detonated energy attack. When Bai Fan loses control during practice, she knocks the unstable energy away and shields him from the explosion with her martial soul. 5

After Bai Fan vows to create a continent free from oppression and exploitation, Bibi Dong offers to pursue that goal beside him and confesses that her time with him has been the happiest of her life. Qian Xunji soon arrives to force her back to Spirit Hall, dismissing Bai Fan as unworthy of her. 5 6

Separated from Bai Fan for four years, Bibi Dong remains unable to forget him. Although she becomes engaged to Qian Xunji, she shows no joy at the wedding and reunites emotionally with Bai Fan when he disrupts the ceremony to take her away. 9 11

Qian Xunji ultimately forces Bibi Dong to marry him in exchange for sparing Bai Fan’s life. Their marriage becomes abusive: he physically tortures and confines her, repeatedly weaponizing Bai Fan’s name to torment her. Despite this, Bibi Dong continues to place her hope in Bai Fan and his Republic Empire. 12 24 33

When Qian Xunji publicly prepares to execute her, Bai Fan enters Spirit City and rescues her. He tries to send her away with Little Golden Dragon, but Bibi Dong returns to fight beside him rather than survive without him. 34 36

Before sacrificing himself in Spirit City, Bai Fan uses an Azure Lotus to seal Bibi Dong’s memories of their shared past and teleports her away, intending for her to begin a new life. 37

After the first simulation ends, the real Bibi Dong searches for Bai Fan. She finds him in the Star Dou Great Forest and insists on recognizing him as “Xiao Gang” despite his repeated claims that he is only Bai Fan. She later accepts a friendship with him and returns to Spirit Hall to wait for his next simulation to end. 38 39
