Background / History

Qian Xunji is Qian Daoliu’s eldest son and Qian Chenzhou’s much older brother. As Spirit Hall’s Pope, he maintains Pope Hall and initially has Bibi Dong as his disciple. Despite their large age gap, he is openly indulgent toward Chenzhou, even saying he would eventually hand over the papacy if his brother wanted it. 1 6 7

He assists Chenzhou’s early cultivation efforts, including refining Whale Glue for him despite initial skepticism. Qian Daoliu later severely punishes Xunji for allowing the dangerous experiment, judging that he failed to protect his younger brother. 12 13

When Bibi Dong seeks permission to leave Spirit Hall with Yu Xiaogang, Xunji refuses in anger. He considers her planned departure a betrayal of both him and the resources Spirit Hall spent raising her. He releases his Titled Douluo pressure against her, slaps her, and briefly considers killing Yu Xiaogang before Qian Chenzhou interrupts. 15

Qian Chenzhou subsequently forces Bibi Dong to confront Yu Xiaogang’s behavior and allows her to remain in Spirit Hall after she abandons her plan to leave. Xunji tolerates Bibi Dong’s later breach of protocol when she retrieves Yu Xiaogang, but consults Chenzhou rather than acting against her himself. 7 16 18

After learning of the future in which Bibi Dong contributes to Spirit Hall’s downfall, Xunji questions whether she can be trusted. Chenzhou persuades him not to cripple or remove her, arguing that she remains strategically necessary against Tang San and the Asura God. 26

To secure the Qian clan’s future, the six offerings pressure him into a polygamous marriage intended to produce an heir. He reluctantly complies, ultimately choosing three women after the offerings threaten to leave all the candidates with him. By the time Qian Renxue is introduced, he is confirmed as her father. 23 53

Xunji also trains Bibi Dong in the practical management of Spirit Hall, including the handling of official documents. This preparation later assists her when she assumes responsibility for the organization. 35

During the operation against Tang Hao and Ah Yin, Qian Xunji leads Spirit Hall’s forces and nearly defeats Tang Hao despite the latter’s Ring Detonation and newly acquired hundred-thousand-year Soul Ring. The Asura God King then possesses Tang Hao and defeats Xunji with a single hammer strike, leaving him severely injured. Chenzhou had anticipated the danger and arranged for multiple healing Soul Douluos to await Xunji’s return. 31 32 33

After recovering, Xunji yields Spirit Hall’s leadership to Bibi Dong and later reaches level 99. Although officially treated as dead, he continues managing the backlog of Spirit Hall affairs while Bibi Dong is absent or occupied. In practice, Bibi Dong becomes the public-facing ruler while the Qian clan and Chenzhou retain decisive authority behind the scenes. 34 50 58 78

Qian Renxue grows up living with her father in Pope Hall, and Xunji maintains a warm relationship with her. When Qian Daoliu later blames him for Qian Renxue’s attachment to Chenzhou and her unconventional upbringing, Xunji remains too intimidated to challenge his father and avoids intervening in the dispute. 53 90 91

Personality

Qian Xunji is protective of his family and Spirit Hall, particularly Qian Chenzhou. He readily supports his younger brother’s requests, though he can be skeptical of Chenzhou’s unconventional cultivation methods and complains when those plans create trouble for him. 6 11 23

As Pope and Bibi Dong’s teacher, he is stern, possessive of Spirit Hall’s resources, and deeply hostile toward perceived betrayal. His reaction to Bibi Dong’s intended elopement reflects both personal disappointment and concern that a future Super Douluo would strengthen an opposing faction. 15

He can set aside personal suspicions when strategy demands it. After hearing Chenzhou’s warning about Tang San and the Asura God, he agrees not to act against Bibi Dong and gives Chenzhou broad authority to make arrangements. 26

Qian Xunji is also capable of unusual indulgence toward those close to him. He dotes on Qian Chenzhou and is visibly pleased by the bond between Chenzhou and Qian Renxue, even when that bond contributes to family conflict. 6 53 90

Despite his status as Pope and Titled Douluo, he is deeply cautious around Qian Daoliu. His father’s punishment for the Whale Glue experiment and later anger over Chenzhou’s influence leave him reluctant to oppose the First Offering directly. 13 90 91
