Background / History
Su Yan approached Wu Yi at Cloudwater Wharf while presenting herself as a beautiful young woman from Blackwater City who had accompanied her spice-trading father to Cloudwater City. She invited him aboard the Su Household’s pleasure boat and cultivated a flirtatious rapport with him. 7 8
On the boat, Su Yan helped create the appearance that Wu Yi was a suitable marriage prospect. Her purported father approved a future marriage discussion after Wu Yi claimed connections to the Zhang and Wang Households, while Su Yan appeared shyly agreeable. 8
Wu Yi heard Zhou Man’s voice coming from below deck and became certain that something was wrong aboard the vessel. Su Yan attempted to keep him away from the cargo hold, then led him to her bedchamber and tried to seduce him. 9
Wu Yi had identified the bewitchment affecting him through his system panel and had only pretended to be captivated. He struck Su Yan, forcing her to shed her human skin and reveal herself as a Skin-Painting Demon. After Wu Yi blasted through her torso and drove her through the ship’s wall, he chose to rescue Zhou Man rather than pursue her. 10
The demon later succumbed to its injuries, leading Wu Yi to conclude that killing it had granted him an additional unit of Bronze Energy. 13
