Background / History

Wu Yi accepted Li Kuai into True Intent Martial Hall several years before the story. During the martial hall’s decline, Li Kuai remained despite having no money or martial skill, performing miscellaneous work and helping preserve the hall’s last dignity. 2

When Zhou Man abruptly rejected him and claimed he would never return to the hall, Li Kuai was deeply hurt. He reported the matter to Wu Yi, unaware that Zhou Man was being coerced by the Wild Wolf Gang. 4 12

After Wu Yi rescues Zhou Man from the Su Household’s demon-infested ship, Li Kuai initially tries to confront him for abandoning the hall. He immediately reconciles with Zhou Man once the truth is explained. 11 12

Personality

Li Kuai is loyal, diligent, and emotionally attached to True Intent Martial Hall and Wu Yi. Though timid when confronted by stronger opponents, he refuses to surrender the hall’s dignity and stands at its gate even after Jackal knocks him down. 2

He is impulsive and prone to misunderstanding situations. He wrongly blames Zhou Man for leaving, then later mistakes Wu Yi’s speech about the martial hall’s future for a sign that his master is dying. 11 12 14

Despite his weakness, Li Kuai is enthusiastic about martial training and eager to learn Wu Yi’s techniques. 13

Basic Martial Training

Li Kuai practices True Intent Martial Hall’s introductory Primal Unity Wishful Stance under Wu Yi’s supervision. He struggles to maintain the stance for even half an hour and has not entered the Skin-Flesh Realm. 13 14

Story Role / Major Arcs

Defense of True Intent Martial Hall

Li Kuai guards the martial hall when Pockmarked Sun arrives to demand a refund under Jackal’s backing. Unable to pay and unwilling to allow Jackal inside, he blocks the entrance until Jackal forcibly knocks him down. Wu Yi’s intervention prevents the gang’s plan from succeeding. 2 3

Zhou Man’s Apparent Defection

While sweeping the martial hall courtyard, Li Kuai tells Wu Yi that Zhou Man has quit and refused to see him. His report leads Wu Yi to investigate Zhou Man’s situation at Cloudwater Wharf. 4

After Zhou Man is rescued, Li Kuai angrily confronts him, believing he abandoned the hall. Zhou Man’s explanation reveals that he had driven Li Kuai away to keep him out of the Wild Wolf Gang’s extortion scheme. 11 12

Training Under Wu Yi

Li Kuai begins formal training after Wu Yi regains his strength. He is awed by the Intent-Suppressing Hell Demon Fist but is reminded that he must first master the Primal Unity Wishful Stance. 13

Wu Yi later makes clear that Li Kuai and Zhou Man must become strong enough to carry True Intent Martial Hall in the future, imposing daily supervised training with no allowance for laziness. 14
