Background / History
Wu Yi transmigrated into the world twenty years before recovering his past-life memories. At sixteen, he stood at the Peak Meridian-Piercing Realm and was celebrated as Cloudwater City’s leading genius. His father, Wu Ji, was the master of True Intent Martial Hall and a Core Essence Realm martial artist. 1
When the Yang Emperor conscripted fighters to resist the demon tide at Demon Suppression Pass, Wu Ji led the hall’s core disciples to war. None returned. Soon afterward, Wu Yi’s foundation was crippled, his meridians sealed, and True Intent Martial Hall collapsed from a major local force into an almost-empty institution. Its disciples scattered until only Wu Yi, Li Kuai, and Zhou Man remained. 1
For years, Wu Yi buried himself in alcohol. After being assaulted outside his martial hall and abandoned in a graveyard, he recovered his memories and awakened a system panel capable of restoring injuries, elevating cultivation, and improving martial arts. He used its first Bronze Energy to restore part of his cultivation, then chose to hide his recovery until he could safely settle accounts with those who exploited the hall’s downfall. 1
Appearance
Following his recovery, Wu Yi abandons the unkempt, alcohol-soaked appearance associated with his years of decline. Li Kuai describes him as carrying himself like an exposed treasure sword. 3
- Long hair tied behind his head. 3
- Groomed stubble. 3
- Sharp, dangerous eyes and an authoritative bearing. 3
- Often wears night clothes when operating covertly. 14
Personality
Wu Yi is calculating, patient, and intensely vengeful. After regaining his strength, he initially suppresses his anger toward the Wild Wolf Gang rather than exposing his recovery to unknown backers. He values preparation over pride and is willing to accept compensation from enemies while waiting for a stronger position. 3
He is deeply protective of his remaining disciples. His concern for Zhou Man drives him into Wild Wolf Gang territory and onto the demon-infested Su vessel, while his treatment of Hu Rong and Zhou Man’s mother reflects guilt over having neglected those tied to the martial hall. 3 5 7 10
As a teacher, Wu Yi is stern and sometimes theatrically harsh. He believes weakness invites exploitation, intends for Li Kuai and Zhou Man to inherit True Intent Martial Hall, and trains them personally—though he occasionally disguises rough treatment as reaction training. 13 14
His hatred of demons is personal: his father and the hall’s core disciples died at Demon Suppression Pass. Once he learns that demon slaying can produce Bronze Energy, this hatred becomes both a moral mission and a means of growth. 10 13
Abilities & Skills
System Panel
Wu Yi possesses a silent system panel fueled by graded Energy: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Eternal. 1
- Can elevate realms, restore injuries, and increase martial-art proficiency. 1
- Bronze Energy normally accumulates once per natural day; Silver requires ten days and Gold requires one hundred. 1
- Healing his condition costs less Bronze Energy than directly raising his realm. 13
- Deduced that killing demons can grant additional Bronze Energy. 13
- Cannot fulfill upgrades without sufficient energy; elevating directly to the Heavenly Emperor Realm would require one hundred million units of Eternal-Grade Energy. 1
Meridian-Piercing True Qi
At the Meridian-Piercing Realm, Wu Yi can circulate true qi for destructive attacks far beyond those of Skin-Flesh Realm martial artists. 10
- Kicked Jackal—a Skin-Flesh Realm martial artist—away with a Shadowless Kick. 2 3
- Punched through the disguised Skin-Painting Demon and sent it through wooden pillars and a ship wall. 10
- Uses true qi defensively to resist Su Yan’s bewitchment. 10
- Moves fast enough to cross Cloudwater City and disappear from Li Kuai’s sight. 4 7
- Conceals his aura while infiltrating the Wild Wolf Gang stronghold. 16
Intent-Suppressing Hell Demon Fist
An advanced, untransmitted True Intent Martial Hall fist art derived from the Primal Unity Wishful Stance. Wu Yi describes each strike as lethal against humans and demons. 13
- Hell-Suppressing Mountain Sinker — a crushing downward fist that produces a thunderous impact. 13
- Demonheart Thrust — a spiraling, true-qi-driven piercing strike carrying a savage killing intent. 13
- Wu withholds the remaining forms from his disciples, insisting that they first master the basic stance. 13
Combat Cunning
Wu Yi regularly relies on deception and judgment rather than force alone.
- Feigned attraction to Su Yan after noticing bewitchment on his status panel, allowing him to expose her as a Skin-Painting Demon. 10
- Prioritized extracting Zhou Man and Liu Shi from the vessel rather than pursuing the wounded demon. 10
- Bluffed the fox demon with the fabricated “Heavenly King Demon-Subduing Fist,” using the resulting chaos to escape with both captives. 11
- Learns from encounters with demons, recognizing that their strange techniques require greater caution than ordinary martial opponents. 11
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- System panel — his primary source of healing, cultivation advancement, and martial-art enhancement. 1
- Wooden training stick — used to correct, and sometimes knock down, Li Kuai and Zhou Man during stance training. 13
- Night clothes — worn for his covert move against the Wild Wolf Gang. 14
Relationships
- Wu Ji — Father and former master of True Intent Martial Hall; died with the hall’s core disciples at Demon Suppression Pass. 1 4
- Li Kuai — Nominal disciple who remains loyal through the hall’s decline; Wu Yi personally trains and protects him. 3 13 14
- Zhou Man — Talented outer disciple and filial son; Wu Yi rescues him from demons and intends to help him reach the Skin-Flesh Realm. 4 10 14
- Hu Rong — Ally who defended True Intent Martial Hall during the Wild Wolf Gang’s provocation; Wu Yi visits him and provides injury medicine. 3 4
- Wild Wolf Gang — Hostile gang responsible for attacking Wu Yi, attempting to seize the martial hall, and coercing Zhou Man into dock labor. 3 5 12
- Su Yan — Skin-Painting Demon who lured Wu Yi aboard the Su vessel under the guise of a beautiful merchant’s daughter; Wu Yi exposed and severely injured her. 7 10
- Liu Shi — Zhou Man’s elder and fellow dock laborer; Wu Yi rescues him alongside Zhou Man. 10 11
Major Arcs
Recovery of True Intent Martial Hall
After awakening the system and restoring part of his cultivation, Wu Yi emerges from the martial hall to repel Jackal and protect Li Kuai. Rather than openly destroy the Wild Wolf Gang, he accepts twenty taels of silver and begins quietly investigating its backers. 1 3
Search for Zhou Man
Wu Yi discovers that Zhou Man has abandoned the hall under pressure from the Wild Wolf Gang. He visits Zhou Man’s ill mother with medicine, traces Zhou Man to Cloudwater Wharf, and follows the trail to the Su family’s pleasure boat. 4 5 7
Su Vessel Demon Incident
Suspicious of Su Yan’s bewitchment, Wu Yi plays along with her seduction before exposing her as a Skin-Painting Demon. He descends below deck, frees Zhou Man and Liu Shi, then fights a fox demon long enough to escape with both men. 10 11
Rebuilding the Hall
After restoring himself to the Peak Meridian-Piercing Realm, Wu Yi resumes teaching. He drills Li Kuai and Zhou Man in the Primal Unity Wishful Stance, demonstrates the Intent-Suppressing Hell Demon Fist, and commits to personally guiding them toward the Skin-Flesh Realm. 13 14
Wild Wolf Gang Retaliation
No longer willing to remain defensive, Wu Yi sets out at night to strike the Wild Wolf Gang. He reaches its stronghold only to find that a demon has already massacred much of the gang, then observes Chen Dao’s death and the second-in-command’s betrayal from concealment. 14 16
