Background / History
Leif was once a gifted martial artist in another territory. After losing a Paralympics qualifier to a boxer from a rival dojo, he murdered the opponent with his staff. When his master attempted to expel him, Leif massacred everyone in the dojo and fled into the wilderness before bounty hunters could arrive. He later joined the Z Organization, losing Civilization Protection for murder. 18 29
Within the Z Organization, Leif became its fourth-in-command and assault captain. He built a reputation as “Silver Drive Shaft” through his silver armored prosthetic body and the steel staff forged from a Pusqu Snake-class assault ship’s drive shaft. He worked in close partnership with the Inner Power specialist Jingbao Kui, allowing the pair to combine physical combat with cyber intrusion. 25 29 39
Appearance
Leif frequently used different prosthetic bodies through hot-swapping, while retaining his biological face beneath armor. 27
- In his smaller city-going body, he had a short, stocky silver prosthetic frame with four arms and a bright-red Z mark on his head. 18
- During the raid on Recycling Station Town, he used a heavily armored giant body nearly three meters tall, with long industrial-grade arms and smooth, knight-like armor. 23
- His biological face bore a bright-red Z tattoo. 26
- His usual combat body had a rounded armored back fitted with short-duration jet nozzles. 26
Personality
Leif presents himself with refined speech, warm manners, and theatrical humor, even while threatening or killing others. He calls terrified victims “dear brother,” frames coercion as friendly advice, and treats murder as a joke. 18 19 26
He views strength as the only meaningful standard in the martial world. Unlike Xiang Shan, Leif sees the strong bullying the weak as natural rather than shameful, and he cannot understand why a martial artist would reject that logic. 29
Despite his arrogance, Leif is not purely reckless. He gathers intelligence before attacking, uses hostages to prevent an enemy’s escape, recruits useful survivors, and avoids blindly entering an unknown knight’s building without line of sight. 19 25 27
Abilities & Skills
SSC Three Weapons, One Staff
Leif specialized in the SSC Three Weapons, One Staff style, an orthodox staff art incorporating the principles and weight distributions of sword, spear, and cudgel techniques. 29 30
- Uses a relaxed-looking shoulder-rest stance as a deceptive opening for Greatsword Swordsmanship. 30
- Switches between long-staff sweeps, sword-like cuts, and spear thrusts. 29 30
- Exploits leverage, centripetal force, and force-borrowing to redirect heavier attacks. 24
- His named killing move, Thunder Rolling, creates repeated sound-breaking staff flourishes and disruptive shockwaves; it can only be sustained for roughly three seconds before his arm units overheat. 32
- Xiang Shan judged Leif’s technique inferior to his own despite Leif’s overwhelming hardware advantage. 31
Inner Power and Witnessing
Leif possessed beginner-level Command Realm Inner Power and studied witnessing-related techniques to support Jingbao Kui’s hacking. 25
- Used his prosthetic eyes and infrared signals to help compromise enemy sensory systems. 25
- Shared access to selected bodily systems with Jingbao Kui through encrypted WiFi, enabling the latter to launch rapid intrusions during combat. 25
- Could exploit compromised prosthetic eyes to disrupt vision and martial-game processes. 24 25
- His own Inner Power was insufficient for high-speed sensory intrusion without Jingbao Kui’s assistance. 25
- Xiang Shan’s counter-hack activated old backdoors in Leif’s systems, forcing his driver chip toward overheating and failure. 30 31
Prosthetic Mobility and Power
Leif’s heavy combat body greatly exceeded ordinary martial artists in output, armor, and striking force. 24 25
- Carried a steel rod weighing over a ton as though it were a golf club. 24
- Launched himself across roughly a third of Recycling Station Town with a leap and short-duration jet propulsion. 26
- Crushed a house beneath his landing and used the impact for renewed acceleration. 26
- Could demolish a house with a single staff strike. 31
- His heavy body remained vulnerable to chip overheating, hacking, and the limited maneuverability of a large frame. 30 31
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Steel staff — fashioned from the drive shaft of a Pusqu Snake-class assault ship; the weapon behind his “Silver Drive Shaft” epithet. 29
- Nanometal staff modification — solid metallic nanofluid within the staff could shift under electromagnetic fields to imitate different weapon weight distributions. 30
- Electromagnetic firearm — used while gathering intelligence in the city; capable of firing several rounds before recoil moved the muzzle. 18
- Heavy armored prosthetic body — a giant combat body with powerful limbs, reinforced armor, and jet nozzles. 23 26
- Multiple prosthetic bodies — Leif could hot-swap his brain into different frames. 27
Relationships
- Jingbao Kui — Inner Power specialist and trusted combat partner. Leif granted him access to parts of his own body for coordinated cyberattacks; their partnership depended on absolute trust. 25
- Geliad — Leader of the Z Organization and Leif’s superior; Leif was identified as Geliad’s confidant and later sent intelligence to Enoch for delivery to the organization. 39 41
- Xiang Shan — Target for recruitment and later Leif’s killer. Leif considered Xiang Shan a potentially valuable recruit, while Xiang Shan condemned Leif’s abuse of martial arts. 19 29 33
- Youji — Xiang Shan’s disciple, abducted by Leif as leverage to force Xiang Shan into the open. 27
- Enoch — Frightened informant whom Leif manipulated into revealing details about Xiang Shan and Recycling Station Town. 18 19
- Paulus — Captured martial artist coerced into joining the Z Organization; Leif intended to use him as expendable support against Xiang Shan. 25 26 32
- Longkoni — Martial artist defeated and crippled during Leif’s raid; his prosthetic eye was compromised through Leif and Jingbao Kui’s coordinated intrusion. 24 25
Story Role / Major Arcs
Intelligence Gathering
Leif first appears as a pulley rider who intercepts Enoch outside the city. He questions Enoch about Recycling Station Town and Xiang Shan, shoots out Enoch’s tire to force cooperation, and kills Vili to conceal the conversation. He learns that the town may soon lose Civilization Protection and prepares the Z Organization to raid it. 18 19
Raid on Recycling Station Town
After the town loses protection, Leif arrives in his giant armored body and drives away the welfare officer through a calculated threat. He kills Anthony, overwhelms Longkoni and Paulus, and coerces Paulus into joining the bandits. 23 24 25 26
Kidnapping Youji
Acting on intelligence from Enoch and Jingbao Kui, Leif intercepts Yulia and captures Youji. He uses the child as a bargaining chip to ensure Xiang Shan cannot escape, then threatens to strike Youji with his staff to draw Xiang Shan out. 27
Duel with Xiang Shan
Leif offers Xiang Shan recruitment into the Z Organization and Greenwood Road. When Xiang Shan refuses, Leif attacks with his modified staff and coordinates with Jingbao Kui’s infrared hacking. Xiang Shan repackages the malicious code and turns it back on both men, causing their chips to overheat. 29 30
Leif attempts to stall, use Paulus as a distraction, and flee once the fight turns against him. Yulia rams him with her truck, Xiang Shan prevents him from attacking her exposed brain, and Leif’s CPU begins to fail. 31 32
Death and Aftermath
Leif makes one final attack after recovering from the crash, declaring that his boss will avenge him. Xiang Shan circles beneath him and kicks through his head, killing him. 33
Leif’s surviving memory storage later reveals the Z Organization’s shared memories of murder, enslavement, and violence. The gang used these memories to condition recruits and cultivate an addictive emotional attachment to brutality. 36
