Background

Early life and inheritance

Liu Yuanchen was born to Liu Qingyun and Zhang Ling of the Liu Family. His father remained stationed at the spiritually poor Salt Marsh and had only reached the Sixth Qi-Nourishing Layer after years of cultivation, leaving Yuanchen acutely aware of his family’s limited standing and resources 8.

He obtained an inheritance tied to Grand Immortal Zhenyuan and the Ginseng Fruit Tree. The Heaven-Reaching Divine Wood Technique refined spiritual qi several times faster than his previous method and established his cultivation foundation in the Middle Dantian 3. His early access to a Blessed Land and the Ginseng Fruit Tree’s support became the source of his unusually rapid advancement.

While escorting concealed Blood Jade Pills to Dongyang Lake, Liu Yuanchen survived Chen Changming’s Silver Sword Talisman through hidden vine armor and escaped using Wood-Shadow Evasion. He concealed the true reason for his survival, negotiated compensation with Liu Qingsong, and used his merit to seek safer assignments for his father and elder brother 7.

Alchemy and sect advancement

Liu Yuanchen passed the Elixir Hall assessment by refining four Spirit-Awakening Pills, including one good-grade pill. He became an inner disciple, refused to become entangled in Steward Zheng Qian’s faction, and secured a secluded cave mansion with a second-rank spirit vein and Cloudwater Formation 16.

His reputation rose after he became known as a First-Rank High-Grade Alchemy Master. During wartime pill production, he delivered 26 Spirit-Awakening Pills from five batches, including six high-quality pills, intentionally revealing enough talent to establish his value to the Elixir Hall 17 18.

The Chen Household repeatedly targeted him and his relatives. Chen Changming attempted to assassinate him, Chen Zongming later used Azure Spirit Bees against him, and the household manipulated Liu Yuansi into volunteering for the Golden Ao Mountain campaign 7 24 189. Liu Yuanchen eventually chose to ruin the Chen Household politically rather than destroy them openly, arranging for their wartime crimes and Chen Zongming’s involvement to become widely known 189.

Zhao Hong's lineage

Deputy Hall Master Zhao Hong recognized Liu Yuanchen’s potential and introduced him to the Azure Ape Forest-Piercing Technique, an Earth Immortal Path inheritance containing body-tempering methods, Astral Force cultivation, and combat arts 28. Zhao formally accepted him as a registered disciple, publicly warned potential enemies against plotting against him, and bestowed the Wind-Thunder Staff and an Eight Desolations Pavilion school token 30.

Liu Yuanchen later became a personal disciple, gaining exemption from sect missions and regular resource subsidies 44. Zhao’s lineage also connected him to Grandmaster Zhang Lingxu, the Pill King Lineage, and eventually the wider Eight Desolations Pavilion 101 297.

Academy battles and political rise

At Southern Pacification Academy, Liu Yuanchen defeated Lin Jianshan, Guo Ping, Shi Jian, and Xia Longting in successive challenges. These victories established his reputation as a close-combat specialist with extraordinary physical strength, speed, and defense 97 98 100.

He later received the title of Palace-Opening Divine Lord, began planning a Divine Path avatar and temple, and built Dongyang Divine Prefecture around Coiled Dragon Mountain 145 181. As his influence grew, he organized a retinue office, recruited cultivators and Liu Family personnel, developed Coiling Dragon Lake Market, and used divine authority to reshape territory and improve cultivation resources 189 220 286.

Later cultivation and the Primordial World

Liu Yuanchen’s later advancement relied on the integration of Earth Immortal Path cultivation, Witch-Human Astral Force inheritance, Divine Path authority, the Earth Book, his Grotto-Heaven, and multiple spirit treasures. He mastered the twelve Ancestral Witch inheritances, refined Innate Primordial Qi, and built Dongyang Grotto-Heaven into an increasingly independent world 328 401 476.

After entering the Primordial World, he concealed himself as a rogue cultivator near East Sea City while gathering resources and searching for Treasure-Dropping Money. Over a century, he reached Mid Golden Immortal Realm and condensed Innate Undying Radiance 583.

He later returned to Longevity Mountain under Grand Immortal Zhenyuan’s guidance, refined major treasures, named Pangu’s body-refining method the Heaven-Opening Art, and gained control of Dongyang Realm after its Heavenly Dao matured 634. In the Primordial World, he also became Water Virtue Star Lord and Great Emperor of Mount Tai, granting him broad authority over water, rainfall, and related divine affairs 656 657.

Personality

Liu Yuanchen is cautious, pragmatic, and intensely survival-oriented. Early in his life, he focused on evasive arts because “whether he could win a fight was not important”; remaining alive was his priority 7. Even after becoming powerful, he prefers preparation, concealment, and indirect pressure over reckless confrontation.

He treats favors, resources, and political relationships as matters requiring clear exchange. He refused Zheng Qian’s implied mentorship until he understood the sect’s factions, paid Liu Qingyuan for borrowed spirit grain despite family ties, and traded valuable materials with Zhao Hong rather than allowing resentment to form between master and disciple 16 29 70.

Despite his calculating nature, Liu Yuanchen remains devoted to his family and dependents. He repeatedly used his status to protect relatives, arranged opportunities for Liu Family members, sought longevity resources for his parents, and personally granted his deceased mother godhood as an Agriculture God 7 187 258. His care for Xiao Yu, Dark Armor, Golden Armor, Liu Yan, and Liu Ling carries a distinctly parental quality 83 163 411.
