Background / History
Stella is the second princess of the small European Vermillion Empire. Her enrollment at Hagun Academy attracted national media attention, where she entered as the academy's highest-scoring valedictorian and was celebrated as a once-in-a-decade genius. Her apparent brilliance concealed a childhood spent unable to control her immense Magic capacity; her power repeatedly burned her, and even her parents urged her to abandon the path of a Magic Knight. Stella persevered through those injuries and trained until she earned the title of Crimson Lotus Princess. 79 80
At Hagun, Ritsuka's blunt judgment that Stella had not discovered the essence of her power provoked their first clash. Their simulation duel became a decisive defeat for Stella, whose flames were countered by Ritsuka's fire immunity and superior swordsmanship. Although badly injured, Stella refused to surrender. 79 80 81
Afterward, Stella accepted Ritsuka's offer to train together. She also honored the wager attached to their duel and became Ritsuka's self-described servant. Her endurance, practical experience, flame control, and swordsmanship improved rapidly under the harsh training regimen. 83 84
Ritsuka later forced Stella into a life-or-death confrontation to awaken her underlying power. Stella realized that she was not fundamentally a fire manipulator: her true ability allowed her to embody the concept of a dragon, granting overwhelming physical force, heat-based power, and recovery. 97 111
Stella reached the final of the Seven Star Sword Dance Festival against Ritsuka. Despite fighting through grave injuries and exhausting her stored heat, she continued attacking out of pride, her desire to be admired, her wish to protect Vermillion, and her growing love for Ritsuka. Ritsuka won, but Stella's Noble Phantasm changed during her final attack. 113 114 115 116
When Ritsuka departed the world after becoming a Demon, Stella confessed her feelings at the shore too late to stop her. Heartbroken, she accepted Edelweiss's offer to train until she could leave her world as well. 120
Stella eventually found Ritsuka again as the Red Dragon Emperor. She overcame her insecurities and confessed openly; Ritsuka accepted her feelings while making clear that Sakura would always hold the foremost place in her heart. Stella chose to continue fighting for that relationship. 227 228
Appearance
Stella is a strikingly beautiful young woman with fiery red hair and red eyes. Her presence is frequently accompanied by heat, flames, or a dragon-like aura. 79 113
- Long red hair compared to burning sunset clouds; it can emit a scorching glow when her dragon power is active. 83 111
- Delicate features and a conspicuously powerful build, including exceptional arm strength. 79 111
- Wears Hagun Academy's uniform during her student years. 79
- Later appears in a Western-style dress during her reunion with Ritsuka. 227
- Can manifest fiery wings, crimson gauntlets, and heavy armor through her Divine Artifact's Forbidden Hand. 296
Personality
Stella is proud, earnest, and intensely competitive. Being treated as a “genius” frustrates her because it dismisses the painful effort she invested in controlling her Magic and becoming a Magic Knight. She is stubborn enough to continue fighting through severe injuries rather than concede. 80 81 115
Her wish to protect Vermillion is sincere, but she eventually recognizes that it also masks a more personal need for strength, praise, and validation. She wants her people to be proud of her, even though they primarily want her to live safely and happily. 115
Around Ritsuka, Stella begins nervous and easily flustered, then becomes openly affectionate, jealous, and determined. She is capable of maturity and decisive action: rather than wait passively after being separated from Ritsuka in Box Garden, she sets out to search for her. 82 228 297
- Has an enormous appetite; she can consume extreme quantities of food and convert it into usable heat and combat power. 84 109 114
- Is easily embarrassed by implications surrounding her “servant” status. 83
- Remains anxious when Ritsuka places herself in danger, in contrast to Orphis's calm confidence. 232
Abilities & Skills
Dragon Conceptual Transformation
Stella's true ability is not fire manipulation. She attaches the concept of a great dragon to herself, allowing “dragon-associated” violence and physical traits to manifest through a human body. 111 113
- Grants monstrous strength capable of overwhelming hardened Magic Knights. 112
- Enhances durability and gives her dragon-level regeneration. 114
- Causes her body, hair, and skin to radiate heat from within. 111
- Her early failure to recognize this ability limited her control and combat application. 79 83
Flame and Heat Manipulation
Stella generates and controls extraordinarily destructive flames, producing heat sufficient to melt bullets, devastate battlefields, and threaten massive areas. 86 113
- Dragon's Feather Robe — forms flame armor that melts incoming bullets. 86
- Dragon's Jaw / Hell Dragon's Jaw — manifests a dragon-shaped inferno for close- and mid-range attacks. 86 114
- Tyrant Dragon Roar — creates enormous fireballs and heat across the battlefield. 113
- Heaven Burning Earth Dragon King Flame — her strongest pre-awakening Swordsman's Ultimate Skill; later used as a catastrophic final attack. 80 115
- Heat Haze Curtain — creates a heat-distortion afterimage to conceal her true position. 114
- Her regeneration and high-output techniques consume heat stored within her body; once that reserve runs low, she cannot sustain Dragon God Possession or repeatedly recover fatal injuries. 114
Dragon God Possession
A Swordsman's Ultimate Skill that drastically increases Stella's body temperature, physical power, heat output, and regenerative ability. 113 115
- Allows her to fight while recovering from otherwise crippling internal and spinal injuries. 114
- Enables attacks powerful enough to endanger the entire Bayfront Dome without protective barriers. 113
- Ends when her internal heat reserve is exhausted, leaving her weakened. 114 115
Noble Phantasm and Divine Artifact
Stella wields dragon-associated armaments that serve as the focus of her combat style.
- Dragon's Sin Sword — a golden twin-bladed greatsword and her original Noble Phantasm. 79 80
- Her Noble Phantasm transforms in response to her changing state of mind, becoming more slender and ornate while retaining immense destructive force. 116
- Red Dragon Gauntlet — used after Stella becomes the Red Dragon Emperor; it can wield her golden greatsword. 227
- Forbidden Hand (Balance Breaker) — manifests fiery wings, crimson gauntlets, and heavy armor through the spirit of the British Red Dragon. 296
Swordsmanship
Although initially inferior to her raw Magic, Stella deliberately studies the Familiaron Royal Swordsmanship and continues refining it through sparring and battle. 80 84
- Uses a heavy greatsword with increasing speed and control after training with Ritsuka. 84
- Combines sword strikes with heat bursts, dragon strength, and flame-based techniques. 113 114
- Her early swordsmanship was judged mediocre despite her prior competition victory. 80
High-End Combat
After becoming a Demon and later receiving further enhancements, Stella can face opponents far beyond ordinary Magic Knights.
- Holds off Serafall, Michael, and an assembled group of gods and Transcendents. 232
- Summons the Transcendent Cerberus, which absorbs the strength of gods during battle. 233
- Serves as No Name's main combat force and is described as stronger than the three Problem Children. 320
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Dragon's Sin Sword — golden twin-bladed greatsword; Stella's Noble Phantasm. 79 80
- Red Dragon Gauntlet — Divine Artifact associated with her Red Dragon Emperor power. 227
- Contract Chess Piece — absorbed into her body; later recognized as a Gift in Box Garden. 229 297
- Reincarnation Chess Piece — absorbed to increase her power and establish a connection with Ritsuka. 229
Relationships
- Emiya Ritsuka — Former roommate, rival, trainer, and beloved partner. Stella initially clashes with Ritsuka, trains under her, searches across worlds for her, and ultimately confesses; Ritsuka accepts her feelings. 79 83 120 228 231
- Edelweiss — Offers to train Stella after Ritsuka leaves, giving her a path toward becoming strong enough to cross worlds. 120
- Orphis — Companion and occasional rival in Ritsuka's household; Orphis frequently comments on Stella's jealousy and remains calmer than Stella in crises. 230 232
- Illya — Travels with Stella in Box Garden; Stella protects her upon their arrival, and the two eventually get along. 296 316
- Toudou Touka — Cares for Stella while she is hospitalized after the Seven Star Sword Dance Festival final. 116
- Shinguji Kuroono — Hagun's headmaster, who arranges Stella's roommate rivalry with Ritsuka and suppresses the initial impact of Stella's awakening. 79 111
