Following a catastrophic timeline collapse and Gu Yue's apparent death, he meets a desperate Tang Wulin in a mysterious realm and agrees to send him back in time while hiding his own hidden motives and desire for revenge 1.
Arriving in the past ahead of Tang Wulin, the Golden Dragon King lands in a desolate snowfield and intervenes in a battle to save Wu Changkong and Long Bing by briefly possessing Wu Changkong's body to obliterate the evil soul master Dark Hummingbird 2 3 5. Over time, his attitude toward Tang Wulin shifts from cold disdain to a complex, mentoring partnership 1 20.
