Background

In Tang Wulin's original timeline, Gu Yue froze herself away to save him. Her apparent death devastated him and became the driving reason behind his return to the past. Tang Wulin later resolves that he will not allow her to bear such suffering alone again 1 7 15.

Gu Yue arrives at Eastsea Academy after missing its registration period. Wu Changkong offers her admission if she can defeat Tang Wulin; she accepts and introduces herself without showing any recognition of him 15. Although Tang Wulin remembers their prior life together, Gu Yue remembers nothing of it 16.

Following her enrollment duel, Wu Changkong assigns her to First Grade Class Five alongside Tang Wulin and Xie Xie 16. During the Holy Spirit Cult disciple's attack in East Sea City, Bi Ji addresses Gu Yue as “Your Majesty” and identifies herself as Gu Yue's subordinate, indicating an authority beyond Gu Yue's public role as a student 30.

After Class Five wins the Class Advancement Tournament, Gu Yue joins the newly established Class Zero. Away from school, Gu Yue directs Di Tian at Life Lake in the Star Dou Great Forest. She seeks to protect her people and reclaim what she considers their territory, but postpones a plan to merge with the Golden Dragon King's power. Aware that he possesses Time Reversal, she opposes killing the boy carrying his power before understanding the danger and the risk of provoking the Asura God. She assigns Di Tian to watch the evil soul masters while Bi Ji and her clone remain at the Spirit Pagoda to monitor the boy 45. Gu Yue is quiet, composed, and observant. At her first meeting with Tang Wulin, she studies him without visible surprise or recognition, then calmly accepts Wu Changkong's enrollment challenge 15. Even after being pulled into Tang Wulin's arms during their duel, she quickly regains her calm demeanor despite blushing 16.

She is protective toward her companions. She intervenes without hesitation when Mu Xi attempts to shove Tang Wulin, placing herself in front of him and using an earth pillar to stop the attack 19. When Tang Wulin and Xie Xie are incapacitated during the Holy Spirit Cult attack, she transports them away, checks Tang Wulin's condition, and makes sure Xie Xie's uniform is properly arranged 30.

Gu Yue also has a subtle teasing streak, particularly toward Xie Xie. She calls him a “crybaby” after he shares his past, and she deliberately lets him believe Tang Wulin invited only her on their weekend outing before clarifying that he was included 22 27.
