Background / History
Gu Yue first encounters Tang Wulin’s group when Yun Ying is knocked into her during pre-tournament stretching. Her hostile reaction establishes her as strong-willed and difficult to approach 9.
During the entrance-test tournament, she decisively defeats Yun Ying despite Yun Ying’s spear techniques, withstanding a fireball, teleporting, and counterattacking with a punch that sends Yun Ying into a trash can 10 11. Her elemental combat ability quickly makes Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Yun Ying regard her as a formidable opponent.
She is later matched against Tang Wulin. After recognizing something familiar in him, Gu Yue shifts from long-range elemental suppression to restrained close exchanges; she deliberately holds back in their final clash, allowing Tang Wulin to win 15. When he helps her stand afterward, she stumbles into his arms and does not immediately pull away 16.
After Xie Xie, Yun Ying, and Dongfang Yao arrange for Kai to confront her, Tang Wulin intervenes and defends Gu Yue. Xie Xie apologizes, while Gu Yue remains composed throughout the incident 17. She subsequently invites Tang Wulin to dinner in thanks, but struggles to voice her gratitude as he consumes most of the meal 18 19.
Gu Yue later joins Class Five with Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Yun Ying 23. When Shadow abducts Xie Xie, Gu Yue and Yun Ying cooperate to rescue him, though Shadow overwhelms them both 26.
Appearance
Gu Yue is consistently identified by her violet eyes and a calm, reserved bearing. Her hair is described differently across appearances: she is first seen with a black-purple high ponytail, later with silver hair, and is also described with black hair 10 15 16 26.
- Often wears a plain dress; it is torn during her match with Tang Wulin and later stitched with silver thread 15 18.
- Elemental particles gather around her hands before she attacks 15.
- Her expression is usually neutral or faintly amused, even under pressure 16 17.
Personality
Gu Yue is reserved, self-reliant, and cautious with unfamiliar people. She refuses Yun Ying’s water because they are not familiar, and she carefully guards her words and personal boundaries 19.
Despite her distance, she is attentive and caring in understated ways. She arranges dinner to thank Tang Wulin for defending her, learns that he likes sweet food, and orders sweet-and-sour ribs for him 18. Her difficulty expressing gratitude leaves her visibly affected when Tang Wulin unintentionally eats nearly all the food she ordered 18 19.
In dangerous situations, Gu Yue remains analytical rather than panicked. She assesses Shadow’s position and elemental traces before entering Xie Xie’s dormitory, then coordinates her attack with Yun Ying 26.

- Can combine elements in sequence, such as using wind to strengthen flame and water mist to support ice-based attacks 26.
- Seals wounds with condensed ice crystals during combat 15.
- Uses earthen walls and fireball barrages to restrict an opponent’s movement and force them into disadvantageous positions 15.
