Background / History
Medea was a young priestess of Hecate’s temple in the Age of Gods and the daughter of Aeëtes, king of Colchis. She encountered Mephistopheles after his arrival in ancient Greece, initially approaching him with reserved curiosity before becoming attached to him and joining his travels with Hecate’s immediate approval. 3 5 6
Travel exposed her to events far beyond temple training. She helped diagnose Heracles’ madness, prepared a potion to cure it, and fought alongside the gods during the Gigantomachy. Apollo later rewarded her part in those events with perfect memory, ensuring her deeds and magical studies would continue to benefit her. 8 9 12
After returning from Olympus, Medea trained her territory construction with Artemis and underwent a ritual that made her Babalon’s priestess. She then fought Typhon’s creations at Mount Etna, personally exterminating thousands of Dragon Tooth Soldiers and Bone-Winged Dragons while earning dragon-slaying accomplishments. 14 16
Although Apollo foresaw a version of Medea who would be manipulated into betraying her family for the Golden Fleece, her path diverged through her relationship with Mephistopheles. During the Argonautic expedition, she assisted Jason through Aeëtes’ trials as part of a staged betrayal; Aeëtes forgave her, and Medea relinquished the throne to remain Colchis’ witch and guardian. 18 24 49
At a later point, she answered a Holy Grail War summoning in Fuyuki as Atrum Galliasta’s Servant. Disgusted by his use of children as magical fuel, she used Rule Breaker to free herself from his control, severed his arm, and took control of his workshop. 32
After thousands of years on the Throne of Heroes, Medea was directly summoned by Mephistopheles through the Blood Mother’s power. Her true body arrived in Chaldea with her full strength and accumulated magical knowledge intact. 130 134
Appearance
Medea first appears as a petite, youthful girl from the Age of Gods. By the time of her direct summoning to Chaldea, she manifests as a mature woman. 3 130
- Long purple hair 15
- Often wears a hooded outfit while manifested as a Servant 32
- Uses a wand or staff when constructing territories and casting large-scale spells 14 104
- Her mature manifestation retains the presence of the legendary witch of Greece rather than the appearance of an ordinary Servant construct 130 134
Personality
Medea is proud of her talent and openly calls herself a genius. Her confidence grows with each battle and blessing, eventually becoming certainty that she can protect Colchis and stand beside far stronger allies. 6 20
Beneath her pride, she is compassionate and emotionally direct. She comforts Megara, swears to cure Heracles’ madness in Hecate’s name, and becomes deeply distressed whenever Mephistopheles is endangered. 8 18
She can also be ruthless when confronting cruelty or threats. She rejects Atrum’s sacrifice of children, leaves him maimed after breaking their contract, and later eliminates enemy Servants before they can claim a Holy Grail. 32 104
Medea is secure in her relationship with Mephistopheles. Rather than resent Artemis becoming his partner, she accepts their bond and considers both herself and Artemis to be his wives in all but formal name. 20 131
Abilities & Skills
Hecate’s Magecraft
As Hecate’s priestess, Medea practices Age of Gods magic and possesses extensive knowledge of potion-making, magical formulae, and battlefield spellcasting.

- Maintains familiar surveillance across Fuyuki, though excessive familiars consume enough mana to endanger her mana supplier. 48

Apollo’s test grants Medea knowledge connected to his authorities of light and the sun without requiring her to become his priestess. 19
- Long-range light-based attacks. 20
- Blinding techniques. 20

- Gains the identity of Babalon’s priestess. 14
- Demonstrates direct control over her blood, drawing it from her hand and returning it to her body. 14
- The Blood Mother’s power was hidden within her body and later allowed Mephistopheles to sever her connection to the Root and summon her true self from the Throne. 130
- At the 1=10 grade, her power manifests as control over earth, air, water, fire, and Ether. 144
