Meng Hongchen is a small white-haired girl with aqua-blue eyes and an energetic, expressive demeanor. At her first meeting with Xu Tianming, she wore her hair in a high side ponytail tied with an oversized ice-blue bow. 10

Personality

Meng is lively, outspoken, and intensely curious. She immediately calls Xu Tianming handsome, questions him relentlessly about his martial soul, and happily persuades him to address her as “Big Sister Meng.” 10 Her frankness regularly overwhelms Xiao Hongchen, who often has to stop her from talking too much or acting too impulsively. 10 11

She is proud of her abilities and can be overconfident, notably declaring that Jing Hongchen’s defensive array could not be breached by anyone below Titled Douluo level just before a far stronger threat appeared. 20 However, she is not merely reckless: she carefully observes the Ice Venom Toad’s energy-gathering point, exploits its weakness, and lands the decisive strike herself. 13

Meng is affectionate and protective toward her friends. After the Rift Realm incident, she worries that Xu Tianming absorbed an unknown Soul Ring recklessly and later makes him promise to be more careful. 25 26 She also enjoys food, shopping, milk tea, and romantic films. 33

Story Role / Major Arcs

Jingyang Mountain Range Expedition

Meng accompanies Jing Hongchen, Xiao Hongchen, and Xu Tianming to the Jingyang Mountain Range for the siblings’ second Soul Rings. She enthusiastically offers to help Xu Tianming locate a suitable fire- or light-attributed soul beast, while becoming flustered by his praise of her Rank 20 cultivation. 11

At the ice lake, Jing Hongchen identifies an approximately eight-hundred-year Ice Venom Toad as a suitable target. Meng endures its poisonous cold mist, recognizes its glowing belly as its weakness, and kills it with a soul-power ice sword. 13 She successfully absorbs its Soul Ring, reaches Rank 21, and acquires Ice Poison Ring. 14

Rift Realm Incident

Xu Tianming’s wish to the Star Core causes a Medium Rift Realm to descend over the expedition. Meng panics and clutches Xu Tianming’s sleeve, but obeys Jing Hongchen’s order to remain inside the barrier. 15

While Jing Hongchen and Shangguan Weier search for the Rift Realm Core, Meng remains with Xu Tianming, Xiao Hongchen, and Ye Guyi inside the Soul Guidance Array. 18 19 She briefly regains her confidence after the array annihilates several Rift Realm Creations, only for the Radiant Flame Dragon to overpower her martial soul with dragon’s might and render her unconscious. 20 21

After escaping the collapsing Rift Realm, Meng remembers the dragon but not Xu Tianming’s confrontation with it. She learns only the fabricated explanation that his protective soul guidance device saved the group. 24 She later realizes Xu Tianming was responsible for their survival and scolds him for absorbing an unidentified Soul Ring without confirming its age or compatibility. 25

Friendship with Xu Tianming

Following the expedition, Meng exchanges communication information with Xu Tianming and insists that he answer her future messages. She also invites him to go out with her and makes a pinky promise for future outings. 26

A month later, she organizes an outing with Xu Tianming and Ye Guyi, demonstrating that her friendship with Ye has also developed since the Rift Realm incident. 31 During the group’s visit to Mingdu, she acts as their guide through the city’s food streets, entertainment districts, films, and soul-tool games. 32 33
