Background
Xu Tianming is a transmigrator whose soul fused with a Star Core from another world. His wish for the Golden Dragon King’s Divine Core was granted, but it also brought forth the Rift Realm—a disaster threatening worlds across the Douluo Star System. He accepts responsibility for its existence and resolves to eliminate the Rift Realms himself 1 28.
He was born into the Sun Moon Empire’s imperial family as Xu Mo’s youngest son. A mysterious golden descent over Mingdu coincided with his conception, while a powerful violet-eyed dragon awakened elsewhere in response to the Golden Dragon King’s apparent fall 1. Before Xu Mo seized the throne, Tianming was known as the War Prince’s Seventh Young Master; afterward, he became the empire’s Seventh Prince and moved into Mo Mang Palace 9.
At his martial soul awakening, the Golden Dragon King’s Divine Core flooded his body with divine power and transformed the imperial Sun Martial Soul he awakened. Tianming regards himself not as a vessel of the Golden Dragon King, but as its legitimate second-generation successor 2.
Appearance
Xu Tianming is a handsome young boy with a composure unusually mature for his age. He has short, brilliant golden hair and clear red eyes; when his Sun Martial Soul is active, golden flames seem to burn within his pupils 1 2.
- Hair: Short and brilliant gold.
- Eyes: Bright red; can become golden and vertically slit under dragon transformation.
- Sun Martial Soul manifestation: A scorching golden sun or solar disk.
- Golden Dragon transformation: Golden scales, dragon horns, an enlarged dragon claw, and crimson flames between his scales 22 36.
Personality
Tianming is outwardly calm, polite, and socially measured. He does not use his status to pressure others, and his lack of imperial arrogance earns the approval of Xiao Hongchen and the Hongchen family 10 11. He is also stubborn in small matters, particularly his long-running refusal to call Xu Tianzhen “Sister” 2.
He possesses immense ambition, envisioning himself becoming emperor, unifying the continent, and eventually ruling far beyond it 3. This ambition is paired with a genuine sense of responsibility: he intends to protect civilians from the Rift Realm because he believes the catastrophe began with his own wish 28.
Tianming is calculating and willing to conceal dangerous truths when necessary. He fabricated the circumstances behind the Radiant Flame Dragon’s death and his unusual Soul Ring, recognizing that Jing Hongchen understood more than he publicly admitted 24 25. His reformist desire to protect commoners from exploitation coexists with ruthless plans to dominate—or consume—those who stand against his control of the soul-beast race 31.
Abilities & Skills
Sun Martial Soul
Tianming’s first Martial Soul is a mutated golden Sun Martial Soul formed under the influence of the Golden Dragon King’s Divine Core 2.
- Possesses Ultimate Fire, Ultimate Light, and destructive power, effectively incorporating aspects of all three Sun Moon imperial inherited Martial Souls 2 4 7.
- Its manifestation produces extreme heat and radiance far beyond an ordinary Sun Martial Soul 2.
- Its conspicuous appearance makes it unsuitable for covert activity outside his identity as a prince 36.
Heavenfire Judgment
Tianming’s first Sun Martial Soul soul skill was formed from the Radiant Flame Dragon’s sacrifice and its fusion with the Rift Realm Core 23.
- Twin-Gun Mode — Summons a pair of advanced pistols that fire long-range soul-power bullets. Their attacks retain considerable power beyond one hundred meters 23.
- Heavenly Fire Drawn — Combines the pistols into a heavenly-fire greatsword for close combat; substantially increases physical strain 23 27.
- Heavenly Fire Calamity Annihilation — The strongest form, capable of divine-punishment-level destruction, but unsafe for Tianming’s current body to use 23 27.
Golden Dragon Martial Soul
Tianming used the Golden Dragon King’s vital blood essence to create a second Martial Soul, allowing him to act without exposing his royal Sun Martial Soul 36 37.
- Grants extreme physical strength, reinforced bones and meridians, and powerful Golden Dragon blood qi 36 37.
- Enables partial dragonification, including golden scales, horns, and dragon claws 36.
- Carries a dragon-bloodline authority that can suppress lesser draconic creatures; Tianming completely overpowered the near-hundred-thousand-year Radiant Flame Dragon through this authority 21 22.
- Provides Tianming with a separate identity for the Fools while his princely identity remains in Mingdu 36 37.
Might of Extremity
The first skill of Tianming’s Golden Dragon Martial Soul, formed from condensed Golden Dragon King vital blood 36.
- Reveals structural weak points in objects, formations, soul tools, soul beasts, and living targets.
- Lets Tianming focus force directly upon a target’s weakness rather than relying solely on brute strength.
- Destroyed a reinforced Soul Guidance Alloy chamber wall and its internal arrays with only a fraction of his strength 36 37.
- Becomes more difficult to use against stronger targets or more complex structures because their weaknesses are harder to identify 37.
Golden Dragon King’s Divine Core
The Divine Core recognizes Tianming as its rightful successor rather than attempting to consume him 2.
- Continuously strengthens his blood, muscles, bones, meridians, and life essence 2 36.
- Provides extraordinary recovery, restoring stamina and repairing training damage after he reaches his limits 29.
- Protected him from the Radiant Flame Dragon’s soul power and Rift Realm energy during the sacrifice absorption 23.
- Allows him to withstand and command dragon might that incapacitates ordinary soul masters 21 22.
Star Core
The Star Core fused with Tianming’s soul before his arrival in the Douluo world 1.
- Fulfills wishes, though its wishes can produce catastrophic and unpredictable consequences; Tianming’s request for a suitable first Soul Ring triggered a Medium Rift Realm 14 15.
- Accumulates Wish Power, especially when Tianming personally destroys Rift Realms 26 27.
- Has summoned powerful allies including Karna and Jingliu through Wish Power 27.
- Makes Tianming highly resistant to corruption from Rift Realm energy 23.
Sword and Spear Training
Tianming deliberately seeks martial mastery rather than relying entirely on his inherited power and summons 27.
- Trains swordsmanship under Jingliu through rigorous daily practice, including ten thousand sword swings each morning 28 31.
- Plans to learn spear techniques from Karna alongside Jingliu’s sword instruction 38.
- Studies soul-master theory, soul beasts, royal etiquette, and Sun Moon military geography under tutors arranged by Kong Deming 31.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Golden Dragon Spear — Divine weapon made from the Golden Dragon King’s rib. It recognized Tianming as its true master because of his Divine Core and bloodline, abandoning the Three-Eyed Golden Lion to reach him 38.
- Drains an opponent’s life essence to empower itself and its wielder.
- Can sustain itself by absorbing natural energy rather than consuming Tianming’s soul power.
- Is stored in Tianming’s Spirit Sea beside the Golden Dragon King’s Divine Core 38.
- Spatial Storage Ring — Apprenticeship gift from Kong Deming. Its interior space is comparable to a small warehouse 7.
- Soul Communication Device — Used to maintain contact with Meng Hongchen and Ye Guyi 25 26.
Relationships
- Xu Mo — Father and Emperor of the Sun Moon Empire. He celebrates Tianming’s talent, uses it in his political plans, and later examines Tianming’s unusual Soul Ring with paternal concern 3 4 26.
- The Empress — Mother. Tianming is one of her three biological children and her favored youngest son; she is protective of him following the Rift Realm incident 29 30.
- Xu Tianran — Eldest brother. Tianran is affectionate and protective toward Tianming, though Tianming fears that succession struggles may eventually destroy their bond 3 30.
- Xu Tianzhen — Older sister. They share a playful rivalry centered on her demand that he call her “Sister,” which he continually refuses 2 3.
- Kong Deming — Master. Kong accepts Tianming as his personal disciple after recognizing his Ultimate Martial Soul, provides resources and protection, and supports his decision to prioritize soul-master cultivation 7 27.
- Karna — Summoned guardian and prospective spear instructor. Karna possesses Limit Douluo-level combat strength and obeys Tianming’s commands without hesitation 22 38.
- Jingliu — Swordsmanship teacher and the Fools’ first Executive Officer, [Swordhead]. She trains Tianming harshly while helping him establish the organization and Hearth House 27 29.
- Jing Hongchen — Senior brother under Kong Deming and master of the Hall of Virtue. He escorts Tianming on his first soul-ring hunt and discreetly protects the prince’s secrets afterward 10 25.
- Meng Hongchen — Friend and fellow Rift Realm survivor. She is openly affectionate toward Tianming, exchanges contact information with him, and makes a promise to remain in touch 10 26.
- Xiao Hongchen — Friend and Meng Hongchen’s older brother. Initially wary of Tianming’s imperial status, he comes to regard him favorably after witnessing his humility and composure 10 11.
- Ye Guyi — Friend and Rift Realm survivor. Tianming exchanges communication information with her after their shared ordeal 25.
- Radiant Flame Dragon — A corrupted draconic soul beast that recognized Tianming as dragon sovereign. It willingly sacrificed itself rather than become a mindless Rift Realm Lord, becoming Tianming’s first Soul Ring 22 23.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Martial Soul Awakening and Imperial Succession
Tianming awakens his mutated Sun Martial Soul with Innate Full Soul Power, immediately becoming a valuable political asset to Xu Mo and the Sun Moon imperial family 2 4. Kong Deming accepts him as a disciple, strengthening Tianming’s position within the empire’s soul-engineering establishment 7.
When Xu Mo stages a palace coup, Tianming correctly identifies the official poisoning report as a cover story and deduces that Crown Prince Xu He escaped. Xu Mo’s ascension changes Tianming from the War Prince’s Seventh Young Master into the Seventh Prince of the Sun Moon Empire 8 9.
Rift Realm Expedition
Tianming uses the Star Core to wish for an exceptional first Soul Ring, accidentally causing a Medium Rift Realm to descend over the Jingyang Mountain Range 14 15. Inside, he faces the corrupted Radiant Flame Dragon, whose dragon’s might incapacitates his companions but leaves Tianming unaffected 21.
After suppressing the dragon with Golden Dragon Divine Might, Tianming learns that it consumed the Rift Realm Core and is losing its sanity. The dragon chooses to sacrifice itself to Tianming, producing his unique growth-type Soul Ring and granting Heavenfire Judgment 22 23. Tianming conceals his role in the Rift Realm’s destruction from Jing Hongchen, the Hongchen siblings, and Ye Guyi 24 25.
Formation of the Fools and Hearth House
Using the Wish Power gained from personally destroying a Rift Realm, Tianming summons Jingliu and asks her to train him in swordsmanship 27. He then establishes the Fools, an independent organization intended to eliminate Rift Realms, protect civilians, and operate publicly without direct ties to the Sun Moon Empire 28.
Hearth House becomes the Fools’ first base and an orphanage for children displaced by war, poverty, and Rift Realm disasters. Tianming intends it to grow into a continent-wide network that provides both future recruits and civilian careers for children unsuited to combat 29 35.
Golden Dragon Identity
Tianming forms the Golden Dragon Martial Soul in secret so he can separate his royal identity from his activities with the Fools 36. His first Golden Dragon skill, Might of Extremity, proves capable of collapsing fortified Soul Guidance Alloy by exploiting structural weak points 36 37.
Soon afterward, the Golden Dragon Spear recognizes Tianming as its rightful wielder and travels through space to reach him, giving him a divine close-combat weapon and a new path of spear training under Karna 37 38.
