Acquisition and Cultivation
A soul master may continue accumulating soul power before acquiring a Soul Ring, but cannot pass the rank-ten bottleneck and advance to rank eleven without a first ring. Even the Sun Moon Meditation Method and Innate Full Soul Power cannot bypass this requirement. 7
In documented hunts, a Soul Ring rises after a suitable soul beast is killed, then the soul master guides it into their body and absorbs its power. Compatibility between the soul beast's attributes, cultivation age, and the user's Martial Soul is treated as essential. 12 13 15

Rift Realm energy can alter the properties of Soul Rings, though its effects are not fully understood. 25 27
Xu Tianming's first ring is an exceptional case: the Radiant Flame Dragon had swallowed the Rift Realm Core and was being assimilated into a Rift Realm Lord before sacrificing itself to him. The resulting ring combines the dragon's power with dark-purple Rift Realm energy without corrupting Xu, due to his Golden Dragon King Divine Core and nature as a Star Core Spirit. 22 23
