Background / History

Zhao Gongming and the Three Cloud Sisters transformed from the same source. As the first to take form, he regarded Yunxiao, Qiongxiao, and Bixiao as his younger sisters and traveled the Great Wilderness while cultivating independently. After emerging from seclusion, he learned that all three had accepted an unknown master, Luxuan, without informing him; fearing they had been deceived, he traveled to the Eastern Sea to investigate. 20

His suspicions steadily collapsed upon reaching Penglai. He witnessed his sisters’ Taiyi breakthroughs, recognized the island’s immense innate formation, and found its resources vastly beyond those of an ordinary cultivation ground. When he finally met Luxuan, he could not perceive the Lord of Penglai’s cultivation or depth. 20

Zhao remained in Penglai for several hundred years to evaluate Luxuan’s conduct as a master. He observed Luxuan tailor guidance to each sister’s path rather than force a single method upon them. His final doubts vanished after the Three Cloud Sisters, despite only being Early Taiyi cultivators, trapped him within Yunxiao’s Nine-Bend Cloud River Formation for three days. 21

While listening to Luxuan’s lecture, Zhao realized that his ten-thousand-year Great Luo bottleneck stemmed not from insufficient mana but from scattered Dao comprehension. He identified the World Great Dao as his path: space creates the world, water nourishes it, and suppression gives it force. 22

Luxuan later accepted him as a registered disciple, preserving his familial seniority over his sisters while formally bringing him under Penglai’s protection. Zhao entered seclusion soon afterward and successfully advanced to Great Luo. 23 24

Personality

Zhao Gongming is protective, cautious, and family-oriented. His first response to learning that his sisters had taken a master was to investigate Luxuan’s character, resources, cultivation, and enemies personally rather than accept their decision blindly. 20 21

He is also practical and capable of revising his judgment. Penglai’s resources impressed him, but Luxuan’s individualized instruction and the sisters’ genuine growth were what convinced him to join the sect. 21 23

In battle, Zhao is confident without being careless. He willingly takes on difficult responsibilities, such as challenging six Great Luo opponents after only recently entering their realm. However, he also accepts Luxuan’s restraint when the formation of additional worlds would endanger his foundation. 27 30 45
