Background

Rise of the Celestial Court

Following Hongjun's first sermon at Violet Cloud Palace, Dongwang Gong was appointed Leader of Male Immortals. Purple Palace Isle rapidly attracted Eastern Sea scattered immortals and developed into the Celestial Court, with Dongwang Gong positioned as its ruler. 6

When Celestial Court scouts discovered Penglai, Dongwang Gong recognized it as the foremost of the legendary Three Immortal Islands and sought to bring it under his authority. He ordered Luxuan to register Penglai's cultivators, erect a Celestial Court Dao Stele, and submit records of its inhabitants and advancements. 6

Escalation against Penglai

Luxuan's refusal—and his defeat of Dongwang Gong's envoy—led Dongwang Gong to test Penglai repeatedly. He dispatched three Great Luo cultivators, thirty-six Taiyi cultivators, and formation specialists, then escalated to one hundred thousand soldiers led by eight Great Luos. Each force was defeated. 8 10

With the Celestial Court's prestige deteriorating across the Eastern Sea, Dongwang Gong personally went to Penglai. His first direct confrontation with Luxuan ended in defeat despite his Early Quasi-Saint cultivation, the Dragonhead Staff, Celestial Court fortune, and the Myriad Immortals Formation. He was compelled to compensate Penglai and accept restrictions on Celestial Court activity near the island. 11 14 15

Dongwang Gong appears as a middle-aged Daoist whose presence alone distorts the surrounding void. He makes his personal entrance in a purple-gold immortal carriage drawn by nine flood dragons of true-dragon bloodline. 11

Though prideful, he is not wholly reckless. Dongwang Gong arrives as an Early Quasi-Saint and battles Luxuan with the Dragonhead Staff, Celestial Court fortune, and the rudimentary Myriad Immortals Formation. Luxuan turns the confrontation into a lesson for Yunxiao, dismantles the formation, and repeatedly overwhelms Dongwang Gong in direct combat. 11 14 15

Unable to accept Penglai's rising influence, Dongwang Gong rebuilds the Myriad Immortals Formation and mobilizes roughly one million soldiers and dozens of Great Luo immortals. He demands the Penglai Origin and orders Luxuan to leave the Eastern Sea. 25 26

Luxuan reaches the Primordial Golden Immortal realm during the war and crushes Dongwang Gong's complete formation. After Yunxiao and the other disciples collapse its remaining nodes, Dongwang Gong abandons his army and flees to Purple Palace Isle. 30 31 32

Luxuan pursues him, destroys Purple Palace Isle's protective formation, breaks the Dragonhead Staff, annihilates Dongwang Gong's body, and crushes his escaping Primordial Spirit and true soul. Dongwang Gong's death disperses the Celestial Court's fortune and ends the Celestial Court as an institution. 33 35
