Background

Purple Palace Isle had operated in the Eastern Sea for many years before the Celestial Court’s rapid expansion. After Hongjun conferred the title of Leader of Male Immortals upon Dongwang Gong, scattered immortals increasingly submitted to the island, giving it the momentum to command the Eastern Sea’s immortals. 6

The Court’s interest in Penglai began when patrols observed the legendary island briefly reveal itself during Luxuan’s breakthrough. Its scouts reported Penglai’s identifying Dao scripts, extraordinary foundations, and the presence of an established Great Luo master. 5 6

Dongwang Gong initially chose political absorption over outright seizure. He ordered Penglai’s master to enter the immortal roster, erect a Celestial Court Dao Stele, submit periodic records of its residents and breakthroughs, and register Luxuan’s disciples. 6

Government and Authority

• Imperial ruler: Dongwang Gong exercised supreme authority from Purple Palace Isle and issued the Court’s military decrees. 6 25
• Claimed jurisdiction: The Court treated Eastern Sea cultivators—especially male immortals—as subject to Dongwang Gong’s title and its registration system. 6

Military Strength and Resources

• Immortal forces — The Court fielded Great Luo, Taiyi, and Primordial Unity Golden Immortal cultivators, as well as large formations of ordinary immortal soldiers. 8 10 26
• Myriad Immortals Formation — A formation linking vast numbers of soldiers, Great Luo nodes, celestial fortune, and Dongwang Gong’s control. Its rudimentary version used one hundred thousand soldiers; the complete version united roughly one million troops and approached Late Quasi-Saint power. 14 30
• Celestial Court fortune — Dongwang Gong could draw the Court’s accumulated fortune from Purple Palace Isle to reinforce his Dharma Form and attacks. 13

Power Progression

Conflict with Penglai

Renewed Hostilities

The compensation initially established a period of mutual restraint: the Court was to stop challenging Penglai, while Penglai would not expand into its territory. The Three Cloud Sisters’ simultaneous Taiyi breakthroughs nevertheless unsettled the Court’s Great Luo cultivators, who recognized Luxuan’s teaching ability and feared another confrontation. 19 26

Dongwang Gong’s renewed campaign escalated the dispute from enforced registration to seizure of Penglai’s foundation. He demanded that Luxuan surrender the Penglai Origin and leave the Eastern Sea with his disciples. Luxuan rejected the demand and declared that his earlier mercy would not be repeated. 26

Disciples’ Role in the Final Invasion

• Yunxiao trapped three formations containing more than one hundred thousand soldiers, over one hundred Taiyi cultivators, and three Peak Taiyi commanders in the Nine-Bend Cloud River Formation. Her continuous adjustments disrupted their coordination and defeated attempts to locate the formation’s core. 28
• Qiongxiao and Bixiao broke the right flank through precise sword attacks, spatial movement, and the Golden Flood-Dragon Scissors. Bixiao’s first genuine killing of a Taiyi cultivator occurred during this battle. 29
• Zhao Gongming challenged six Great Luo cultivators and prevented them from intervening against the sisters. 27 29

Collapse

Dongwang Gong’s flight from the final battlefield shattered the million-strong army’s morale. Luxuan deliberately spared most ordinary soldiers, identifying Dongwang Gong and the war-supporting Great Luo immortals as the conflict’s principal instigators. 33

At Purple Palace Isle, Dongwang Gong activated every available defense and burned the remaining Celestial Court fortune in a final attack. Luxuan destroyed the island-protecting formation, shattered Dongwang Gong’s body, trapped his Primordial Spirit, and crushed both it and his true soul. 33

With Dongwang Gong dead, the Celestial Court’s fortune dragon split apart and its institutional authority collapsed. Remaining cultivators were permitted to leave rather than being forcibly absorbed into Penglai. 33

Legacy

• Penglai acquired its resources — Luxuan claimed the Court’s vaults, spiritual veins, roots, materials, formation records, palaces, and other accumulated assets as spoils of victory. 34
• Purple Palace Isle survived — Rather than destroy the island, Luxuan preserved it as a future Penglai outpost and returned most ordinary former Court territories to their previous owners or to ownerless status. 35
• Eastern Sea order changed — Penglai did not recreate the Court’s registration system or compel cultivators to join it. Instead, Luxuan prohibited opportunistic seizure of cave abodes and spiritual veins, enforcing this rule through his disciples. 35
• Penglai’s transformation accelerated — The confiscated spiritual veins and resources were integrated into Penglai, expanding its internal space and supporting its development toward an independent world. 36 37
• Resources remained important to later cultivation — Together with the resources of Fangzhang and Yingzhou, the seized treasury supplied enough spiritual veins and materials to sustain the disciples’ intensive cultivation in the Three Immortals World’s hundredfold time-accelerated domain. 70
• A lasting political warning — Dongwang Gong’s empty seat at Violet Cloud Palace recalled the Court’s destruction. His former associates did not confront Luxuan, recognizing both his strength and Dongwang Gong’s responsibility for repeatedly attacking Penglai. 39
• Former territories received explicit protection — At its founding, the separate Demon Court publicly included the Eastern Sea, former Celestial Court territories, and Penglai-influenced lands in the regions governed under its prior agreement with Luxuan. Eastern Sea demons could join voluntarily, but forced recruitment, relocation, and seizure of cultivation grounds or spiritual veins were forbidden. 80

Redistribution and Reuse of Assets

Over several decades, Luxuan integrated more than seventy percent of the Court’s ordinary stockpile into Penglai. Spiritual veins strengthened the island’s circulation, spiritual roots were planted in environments matching their attributes, and divine ores and immortal gold were embedded underground to support future resource generation. Captured palaces were placed around newly formed blessed lands rather than destroyed merely because they had belonged to Dongwang Gong. 36

The remaining spirit treasures were arranged within Treasure Cliff according to grade and attribute. Luxuan later identified the acquisition of the Celestial Court’s stores, alongside Penglai’s ancient reserves, as a major reason his disciples enjoyed resources far beyond those available to ordinary cultivators. 37 43

Three Immortals City

As Penglai’s reputation and Eastern Sea traffic increased, Luxuan ordered Zhao Gongming to reorganize Purple Palace Isle into Three Immortals City, a neutral, open hub. Existing trade, lodging, and communication services were retained, while the remaining symbols of Celestial Court authority were removed. The Three Cloud Sisters assisted Zhao Gongming with the work. 89 90

The city enforced three rules:

• No fighting within the city. 90
• No coercive trades or seizure of resources. 90
• No intimidation through ties to the Demon Clan, Witch Clan, or any other faction. 90

Unlike the former Court, the city required neither registration of origins and clan nor allegiance. Regular trading carried a small venue fee, and cultivators paid for their own cave residences, but entry did not entail a protection fee. Demon Court and Witch Clan caravans both obeyed the rules despite their mutual hostility. 90

The former headquarters became more prosperous after the Court’s disappearance. A former member contrasted its voluntary gathering of demons, witches, and rogue cultivators with Dongwang Gong’s ambition of “Ten Thousand Immortals Paying Homage,” observing that the new city was livelier. 90

In the third millennium after the city’s establishment, Baize and Xingtian arrived as envoys of the Demon Court and Witch Clan. Zhao Gongming brought them before Luxuan, who rejected both factions’ requests for military support and reaffirmed that the Eastern Sea would remain outside their war. 90 91

Relationships

• Dongwang Gong — Ruler and central source of the Court’s authority; his death directly caused its destruction. 6 33
