Emergency Rescue Work

A few days later, Uchiha Yuu staggered out of his room looking completely drained. The cramming education of the past few days had made him question his life.

Along with the pain came endless knowledge. After studying a vast amount of medical knowledge, Uchiha Yuu's Medical Ninjutsu had improved significantly, and the field hospital had no shortage of patients.

Compared to the healing of ordinary medical ninja, Uchiha Yuu's healing speed was clearly faster. It depended on his chakra control and the ever-increasing Yang Release Chakra within his body.

Fortunately, he had already mastered the Healing Technique. Otherwise, after a single round of treatment, all the wounded on Konoha's front line would have become casualties.

"Yuu, this war is a little different from what I imagined."

Hyuga Reiko was protected by a group from the Branch Family. As a sensory ninja, her only role was to patrol the rear and prevent spies from slipping through the front-line defenses.

All the dangerous work had been taken over by the Branch Family. With nothing to do, she came to Konoha Hospital to find Uchiha Yuu, her face full of resentment.

"Konoha hasn't officially entered the war yet, so the fighting hasn't escalated. Besides, we're stationed at the border of Amegakure. The real trouble is the allied forces of Iwagakure and Kumogakure."

Although Orochimaru had talent for leadership, the truly terrifying parts of the Second Shinobi World War were in the Land of Lightning and the Land of Earth. Those places were the real meat grinders.

As for the current conflict between Amegakure and Sunagakure, knowing full well that Konoha and Sunagakure were allies, the enemy certainly would not take the initiative to provoke them.

Hanzo might have been called the demigod of the Shinobi World, but he was not an arrogant fool. Clashing head-on with Konoha at this stage would lead to no good outcome.

"We still need to wait a while. Besides, I'm worse off than you."

He pointed toward Konoha Hospital behind him. Reiko had the protection of the Branch Family and would still fight if she encountered enemy ninja, but he had no chance of fighting. If the front line fell, Tsunade would prioritize evacuating the medical ninja.

"I can't leave for the time being."

Hyuga Reiko leaned in and glanced inside, discovering that quite a few patients were being carried into different rooms.

"I heard about it. You proposed reforms to Lady Tsunade, and they were eventually approved. Without your proposal, many people would have died in this war."

The ninja stationed in the rear had all heard Uchiha Yuu's name to some extent. Though still so young, he had already surpassed many medical ninja in Medical Ninjutsu. Some even believed that his future achievements would certainly stand alongside Tsunade's.

Even if he was an Uchiha clan member, no one would want to make enemies with a medical ninja. How could anyone avoid injury after going to war? If they ended up in a medical ninja's hands after holding a grudge, what if the medic carelessly got them killed?

As the two chatted, Uchiha Yuu suddenly saw an ANBU member hurrying toward where Orochimaru was staying.

Before long, troubling news spread through the camp.

"Lord Nara's front line has encountered a large number of allied ninja."

"The war is coming."

The enemy had taken the initiative to engage, and their target was Konoha! In order to seize more territory, they had devised a series of plans from the very beginning.

At the same time, another piece of bad news spread through the camp.

"Kirigakure's people have arrived near Amegakure, and they've begun attacking the front line!"

When Uchiha Yuu heard the news, his expression immediately turned extremely grim.

"No wonder there had been no news from Kirigakure. They actually crossed the Land of Rivers without a sound and met up with Amegakure."

"Next, Teacher Orochimaru will have to face attacks from two villages. We'll have to advance and retreat alongside Sunagakure."

Uchiha Yuu looked into the distance. Many ninja were rapidly leaving the outpost, needing to rush to the front line to carry out their missions.

"Reiko, we can't rule out enemies breaking through the defenses and reaching the rear. Make sure you stay safe."

Uchiha Yuu was not sure whether the ninja whose eyes had been taken by the Mist ninja was Hyuga Reiko. For safety's sake, she could not enter the battlefield.

"Don't worry. The Branch Family is protecting me."

From the rear base, Uchiha Yuu could clearly sense the rising casualty rate. Some of the ninja brought in had only half a breath left, and the excitement of seeing medical ninja made them die even faster.

No wonder Teacher Orochimaru lamented the fragility of life. He had watched countless comrades pass away in the hospital. Life after life vanished before his eyes; even Uchiha Yuu could not remain unmoved.

Unfortunately, with their current medical capabilities, it was impossible to snatch them back from the hands of the Death God.

"Quick! We need a tourniquet here! Get someone to prepare one!"

"Cut his clothes open quickly and rinse it with cool water! Be careful not to widen the wound!"

"You lot, hurry up and carry the patient over!"

"Lord Yuu! We have an emergency patient here!"

A large number of wounded were carried into the hospital. Fortunately, they had followed Uchiha Yuu's suggestion and adopted a system of sorting and diverting patients in batches, while also expanding the rear hospital. Only then had the hospital system avoided collapse.

Even so, the vast number of patients placed tremendous pressure on them.

Uchiha Yuu was covered in blood. The large number of patients rapidly improved his abilities. A pale blue Chakra Scalpel was tightly gripped in his hand as he carefully removed a kunai from the patient's body.

"Whew!"

"Congratulations, you survived. But you'll need time to recover from your injuries afterward."

Looking at the wounded man lying on the operating table, Uchiha Yuu saw that a kunai had been embedded in his chest, only a hair's breadth from his heart. He had survived solely because of his formidable physique.

"I survived? Cough, cough... I actually survived an injury like this. Thank you, Mr. Yuu."

The ninja on the bed stared blankly at Uchiha Yuu. At Konoha Hospital, no one dared treat him like a child. Uchiha Yuu's abilities were exceptional; the patients in his hands had a zero mortality rate, even surpassing Tsunade.

Yuu nodded lightly, giving him an affirmative response, then instructed the nurse waiting beside him.

"Wheel him out. Start the next operation."

The injuries he handled were all caused by kunai. Such injuries required exceptionally precise chakra control, especially for the ninja brought to the operating table, all of whom were hanging by a thread and could die before him at any moment.

That was why Uchiha Yuu operated so quickly: to reduce the risk of death.

Like an emotionless machine, he treated patient after patient.

Once the war began, there was no room to rest. Uchiha Yuu often spent several days straight in the hospital, and in the end, someone had to help him leave.

Today, as he prepared to continue rescuing patients, a ninja used the Body Flicker Technique to appear before him.

"Nawaki?"

He had not seen Nawaki for nearly half a month. Nawaki served as Orochimaru's messenger, traveling between Konoha and the camp.

"I never expected that after just one month, your name would be everywhere in the hospital. When will I ever reach what you've accomplished?"

It would have been impossible to say he was not envious. Yuu had inherited his sister's Medical Ninjutsu and had already achieved so much with it.

Uchiha Yuu felt less like a member of the Uchiha Clan and more like someone from the Senju Clan.

Could he be mixed-blood?

Yuu stared at Nawaki's dazed expression and sensed that he was thinking something strange. He reached out, smacked Nawaki on the head, and said speechlessly, "Why did you, Teacher Orochimaru's messenger, come to the hospital? Did you come specifically to find me, or has something serious happened?"

Only after being asked did Nawaki remember that he had come to the hospital because there was something he needed Uchiha Yuu to handle. He immediately relayed Orochimaru's order.

"Ah, Teacher Orochimaru said there's something that needs to be dealt with, and he wants you to come over."

"Something? All right."

If it required Uchiha Yuu to go in person, it was definitely not good news.

Following Nawaki to Orochimaru's office, Yuu found the Legendary Sannin gathered together. His arrival did not interrupt their argument.

In front of the others, Tsunade was arguing with Orochimaru over a matter concerning Uchiha Yuu.

"Orochimaru! I don't agree to this. Yuu plays a vital role in Konoha's medical efforts. The number of patients he has treated recently is no less than mine!"

"That is precisely because his Medical Ninjutsu is capable and his own strength is not bad. Don't I know my own disciple?"

"When I first took him in, Yuu already had the strength of a Chunin. He's only gotten stronger since then!"

It was rare to see Orochimaru angry. His words carried an unquestionable tone, leaving Jiraiya, who had originally wanted to mediate, unable to speak. He knew that during wartime, obedience came first.

Even though Tsunade held a lofty status and was a medical ninja, Orochimaru was the commander of Konoha's army.

"Teacher Orochimaru, Lady Tsunade."

He did not know what concerning him had caused the two Jonin to clash.

His words happened to draw Jiraiya's attention. Jiraiya immediately came over, pushed him before the two of them, and said, "The person concerned is here. Shouldn't Yuu be the one to decide this?"
