History
Summoning and S.H.I.E.L.D. recruitment
Li Chen summoned Garou as a hidden unit alongside Annie. Immediately recognizing his obsession with monsters, extraordinary rate of evolution, and hostility toward idealized heroes, Li Chen considered him a dangerous addition rather than a conventional recruit. 5
Nick Fury later recruited Garou as a peripheral special consultant for the Avengers, valuing his martial prowess over concerns about his identity or motives. Garou concealed his hostility while operating alongside the team. 10 12
Deep-Sea Clan invasion
During the Deep-Sea Clan’s assault on New York, Garou abandoned his disguise and attacked Hawkeye, declaring the beginning of his “game.” He defeated Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Captain America with overwhelming speed and martial skill, but deliberately left them alive. 11
Hulk was the first Avenger whose raw power seriously injured Garou. Garou adapted by avoiding Hulk’s strikes and targeting joints and vital points, but could not overcome Hulk’s durability. With the Deep-Sea Clan closing in, he retreated rather than risk being trapped. 11 12
Monster Association encounter
Garou later awoke severely injured in a sealed underground location with fragmented memories and an instinctive fear of a mysterious bald man. Big Eye and Champion claimed to have found him in the wilderness and brought him in to recover. 27
Big Eye attempted to recruit and cultivate Garou, believing that he could eventually surpass the Monster King. Garou remained distrustful and refused to join. When Champion prevented him from leaving, Garou prepared to fight, hoping the life-or-death battle would force a breakthrough into the Dragon-Level realm. 27 28
Appearance
Garou is a white-haired martial artist whose appearance becomes increasingly feral when fighting.
- White hair pointing upward like blades. 11
- Wears white pants and a yellow belt. 11
- Usually maintains calm eyes, but displays savage ferocity and a demonic aura in combat. 11
- Retains a human body despite his self-identification as a monster and his evolving monstrous potential. 11 27
Personality
Garou rejects conventional heroism as an artificial social order built around “packaged” symbols of justice. He believes that strength should determine the world’s order and resents the assumption that heroes must always defeat evil. 11
He is intensely combative, proud, and eager to challenge powerful opponents, but he is not reckless. Against Hulk and the surrounding Deep-Sea Clan, he recognized that continuing the battle would be strategically disastrous and withdrew. 12
Despite calling himself a monster, Garou maintains personal principles. He remained suspicious of Big Eye and Champion rather than immediately accepting the Monster Association’s ideology, and he incapacitated Hawkeye and Black Widow without killing them. 11 27
Abilities & Skills
Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist
Garou’s primary martial art combines fluid redirection, extreme evasive movement, and lethal counterattacks.
- Deflected Captain America’s Vibranium Shield by striking its edge with precise timing. 11
- Avoided Hawkeye’s ricochet arrows and Triple Star Shot through abnormal flexibility and rapid reactions. 11
- Dissipated approximately 95% of Hulk’s punch through force-redirection principles, though the remaining impact still severely injured him. 11
- Targets joints and vital points rather than attempting to overpower physically superior opponents. 11
- Adapted to Hawkeye’s attacks after observing them, claiming that his visual nerves had already adjusted to the archer’s movements. 11
Evolution and Monsterization Potential
Garou grows stronger through combat, particularly by defeating heroes, while moving toward a more monstrous state.
- Defeating heroes accelerates his evolution; he believed defeating Captain America would elevate him from the initial to intermediate Demon level. 11
- His summoning description credits him with extraordinary evolutionary speed and states that his late-stage power could rival Boros. 5
- The Monster Association considers him an exceptional human prospect who may surpass Orochi with sufficient cultivation. 27
- His current human body could not endure Hulk’s strength, and his attacks failed to meaningfully damage Hulk. 11 12
Combat Instinct and Analysis
Garou rapidly identifies an opponent’s weaknesses and adjusts his fighting style accordingly.
- Recognized that Hawkeye’s advanced archery was ineffective once Garou understood its trajectories. 11
- Identified Hulk’s predictable, unstructured attacks and neutralized Hulk’s offense through speed and footwork. 11 12
- Maintained a defensive Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist stance immediately after awakening injured among Big Eye and Champion. 27
