Background / History

Tony Stark first encountered the League of Heroes when Li Chen sought to recruit him as a technological asset against the escalating supernatural disasters affecting Earth. Publicly celebrated as Iron Man and known for his wealth and playboy image, Tony arrived carrying the portable Mark V armor in a red briefcase. 1 2

Li Chen used the Light Pull-Cord Monster’s attack to evaluate him. Tony deployed the Mark V in three seconds and fought despite the monster’s vastly superior strength, but his repulsor barrage inflicted only superficial damage. A single punch twisted the armor apart, embedded Tony in a wall, and left the Mark V scrapped. The defeat convinced him that portability alone was inadequate against serious threats. 2

After learning of future catastrophes and receiving a League Member Bracelet, Tony joined the organization. He initially resented being placed in D-Class, but the League’s teleportation, rankings, and heroes forced him to acknowledge how far his technology still had to progress. 3 4
