Background

Dai Mubai is a member of the Shrek Seven Monsters and a prince of the Star Luo Dai Royal Clan. His engagement to Zhu Zhuqing is tied to the compatibility of their martial souls and their ability to form the Netherworld White Tiger. He later describes Zhu Clan women as politically subordinate to the Dai Clan and claims that the arrangement exists primarily to continue the royal bloodline. 19 20 25

He states that his mother was a Zhu Clan woman whom the Star Luo Emperor abandoned and confined after she had borne children; according to Dai, she later died by suicide. Rather than treating this as a warning, he uses it to justify his own intended treatment of Zhu Zhuqing. 20

Personality

Dai Mubai initially presents himself as bold and combative. When Tang San warns the group of the road ambush, Dai immediately assumes the Six Paths are highway robbers and eagerly prepares to fight them. Even after seeing the Split Hound, he tries to reassure the others that the Netherworld White Tiger will not fear it. 2 4

He can act protectively toward Zhu Zhuqing in battle: after the fusion technique fails, he uses his Soul Bone’s speed enhancement to carry her away from the Split Hound rather than challenge it further. 5 However, after the group’s defeat, his conduct toward Zhuqing becomes openly possessive and contemptuous. He repeatedly invokes his royal status, treats her as a servant or political asset, and expects the Shrek group to preserve his reputation rather than hold him accountable. 19 25 35 41

Six Paths of Pain Ambush

Dai Mubai joins Tang San and the other Shrek members in confronting the Six Paths of Pain on the mountain road to Hanhai City. He activates White Tiger Possession and prepares for battle after initially dismissing the attackers as highway robbers. 2

When the Preta Path absorbs his ranged attacks, Dai changes tactics and joins Zhu Zhuqing in forming the Netherworld White Tiger. The fusion initially wounds the Split Hound, but its attacks only trigger further splitting and growth. Dai and Zhuqing are overwhelmed, forced out of the fusion, and left exhausted on the ground. 3 4

Dai activates his Bloodlust Frenzy Hurricane Right Leg Bone to retrieve Zhuqing and escape. The Deva Path intercepts him with Yin-Yang Release Black Rods; the rods pierce and immobilize him, leaving him helpless until the Six Paths withdraw. 5 10

Recovery in Jinshui City

After the defeat, Dai remains in Jinshui City with severe injuries. He is bandaged, dependent on medicine from Zhu Zhuqing and Tang San, and unable to walk normally because of the damage to his leg. 14 17

Ye Chen secretly contaminates Dai’s medicinal herbs with a desire-enhancing potion and uses a transformed clone to lure him from his room. Dai attempts to pursue the disguised woman despite his injury, then pressures Ma Hongjun into accompanying him to a brothel. 16 17 18

Breakdown of His Engagement

While seeking the brothel, Dai openly belittles Zhu Zhuqing and declares that the Dai Clan regards Zhu Clan women as tools for bloodline continuation and martial soul fusion. Zhuqing overhears him, and her trust in him collapses. 19 20

Tang San later helps Dai and Ma Hongjun fabricate an explanation for their actions. Dai agrees to feign remorse only because he wants to preserve the Netherworld White Tiger and the Shrek group’s future combat strength. 25 27

When Zhuqing finally confronts him, Dai demands that she continue preparing and feeding him medicine. She throws scalding medicine at him, slaps him twice, and attacks with Netherworld Slash. Dai responds with White Tiger Vajra Transformation and threatens her before Tang San intervenes. 35 36
