Background

Ye Chen transmigrated to Douluo Continent and spent a year and a half surviving in Hanhai City as an unremarkable level-28 soul master. His Eye of the Deep Sea Martial Soul left him unable to advance or challenge figures such as Tang San and the Shrek Seven Monsters. 1

His circumstances changed when the Divine Character Lottery System bound to him and awarded the Nagato Uzumaki Character Card. The card granted him the Rinnegan, the Six Paths of Pain, Universal Pull, and Almighty Push; a beginner reward also gave him the Death Gate Guy Character Card. 1

Ye Chen immediately used the Six Paths to defeat the Shrek Seven Monsters and Bai Chenxiang, seize Tang San’s Hanhai Cosmic Shield, and force the group to abandon its journey to Sea God Island. Completing the mission elevated him to level 72 and converted the Rinnegan into his true Martial Soul. 6 9 10

After the system revived Konan, Ye Chen falsely claimed to be Nagato’s reincarnation. Konan accepted the deception after recognizing the Rinnegan and the Six Paths of Pain, becoming the first person entrusted with the secret that Ye Chen is Pain’s true controller. 11 12

Ye Chen is a red-haired young man whose eyes are normally azure-blue but become ripple-patterned Rinnegan when his Martial Soul is active. Konan describes him as handsome, with long red hair and pale, flawless skin. 1 11 12

Ye Chen is ambitious, theatrical, and intensely controlling. After gaining the Six Paths of Pain, he takes pleasure in demonstrating overwhelming superiority over Tang San, manipulating the Shrek group into despair rather than simply defeating them. 7 9

He is also pragmatic about threats. Although he speaks of conquering the continent and challenging the Divine Realm, he avoids prematurely confronting opponents such as Bo Saixi, Bibi Dong, and Sword Douluo while his forces remain insufficient. 13

His recruitment methods rely on deception and psychological pressure. He presents himself to Zhu Zhuqing as the sympathetic Hinata, engineers circumstances that expose Dai Mubai, and gradually redirects her despair into loyalty toward Akatsuki. 16 20 30 43

Ye Chen deploys the Six Paths of Pain outside Hanhai City to ambush the approaching Shrek Seven Monsters and Bai Chenxiang. He controls the battle from a distant village, defeats the group through the Paths’ combined abilities, takes the Hanhai Cosmic Shield, and compels Tang San to abandon the Sea God Island expedition. 2 6 9 10

Re-establishment of Akatsuki

Following Nagato’s mission reward, Ye Chen forms Akatsuki around himself, Konan, and Pain. He makes Pain the organization’s public leader while hiding his true identity and planning to monitor future members from within the group. 10 12
