Background

Nüwa created the Human Race, but her status as the Demon Race’s Wa Empress placed her between the two factions. During the Human Race’s calamity, Taiqing and Yuanshi intercepted her outside Nüwa Palace to prevent her intervention; she answered by attacking them with the Red Embroidered Ball and Mountain and Rivers State Diagram. 3

After reaching the Human Race, she defended Ling Wudao against Taiqing and used her share of Human Race destiny to help reclaim that destiny from Taiqing. 6 8 Ling Wudao then forced her to choose between the Demon Race and the Human Race. She chose the latter, moved Wa Huang Palace to Shouyang Mountain, and sought to bring her brother Fuxi to the Human Race’s side. 12 13

Personality

Nüwa is fiercely protective of the Human Race and refuses to accept the Heavenly Dao’s “great trend” as justification for their destruction. She is willing to confront senior Saints, abandon her Saint position, and challenge Hongjun directly to preserve the Human Race’s future. 3 78 134

Although initially portrayed as majestic and dignified, she has a mischievous, acquisitive side. She devised the plan to rob Yuanshi’s disciples and treasure vault, frame the Western Sages with Sarira, and seize resources for the Human Race. 19 20

She is also attentive to family and personal bonds. She repeatedly tries to protect Fuxi from the Demon Race’s schemes, grows jealous of Ling Wudao’s other Dao Companions, and later treats Chi You and Ling Xiaoshuang as family. 51 52 108 198
