Jiang Tieyi's punch caved the blacksmith shop's door inward, sending out a shrill metallic wail.
He raised his foot and kicked again. Under the tremendous force, the door was forcibly kicked back into place.
"Livable."
His voice was muffled. He hoisted a broken anvil from the doorway and tossed it there like a pebble, using it as a threshold.
The Savage Ancient Ape's Soul Power surged through his arms. With several creaks, he bent the crooked roof beams straight with his bare hands.
He then dragged two iron sheets from the scrap heap and brutally nailed them over the drafty windows.
There was no technique to the entire process, only raw strength.
Ling Shuang cleared away cobwebs and thick layers of iron scrap in a corner, while Chu Yao covered her nose and mouth with her sleeve. Her pretty brows were tightly furrowed as her gaze swept across the ruins.
"Worse than the wilderness."
"It has a roof," Jiang Tieyi replied without looking back.
The seven of them settled down in an abandoned blacksmith shop in the Central District of Slaughter City.
The furnace had long gone cold. Rusted tongs and hammers hung on the walls, while the floor was packed black earth mixed with iron filings that rustled softly beneath their feet.
Su Chen memorized the terrain.
The shop's back door led into a narrow alley with three exits, making it an excellent escape route.
The front door faced the Central District's main road. At the end of that road stood the arena that had devoured countless lives.
It was hardly a good location, but it had enough ways out.
"We'll keep watch tonight," Su Chen said, breaking the silence. "Jiang Tieyi takes first watch. I'll take second. Mo Qianye finishes. Everyone else, recover while you can."
