Background / History

Xiao Wu grew up in the Star Dou Great Forest alongside the Azure Bull Python, Da Ming, and the Titan Giant Ape, Er Ming, whom she calls her younger brothers. After taking human form, she entered human society seeking the strength to avenge her mother. Her identity as a transformed Soul Beast was her greatest vulnerability. 7 16

Jiang Li intercepted her outside Notting Academy, exposed her identity, and defeated her Waist Bow with the Dark Six-Winged Angel's Angel Strike. He sought a contract rather than her Soul Ring or Soul Bone, valuing the Soft-Boned Rabbit's Soul Skills. 6 7

She initially refused Jiang Li's contract and regarded him as an enemy. His promise to investigate whether her memories and history concerning her mother were genuine ultimately convinced her to sign the Summoning Grimoire. The contract immediately removed her hostility toward him. 8 9

The contract also transferred the hidden power of her Soul Beast form into the Summoning Grimoire, erasing the aura that could reveal her identity to Soul Masters. Xiao Wu may gradually regain that power as Jiang Li advances and acquires Soul Rings; Jiang Li conceals that, if she dies, she would attach to the Grimoire as a soul rather than leave behind a Soul Ring or Soul Bone. 14 15

After five years at Notting Academy, Xiao Wu graduated early and returned with Jiang Li to the Star Dou Great Forest. Da Ming and Er Ming initially mistook her missing Soul Beast aura for proof of her death, triggering a destructive beast tide and confrontation with Jiang Li. 16 19

Having only recently entered human society, she is naïve about human conventions and material values. Qian Renxue easily provokes her in conversation, while Xiao Wu initially considers a rare Soul Bone to be a worthless bone before learning its price. 9 18

She is affectionate and possessive toward Jiang Li.
