Background / History

While posing as the Masked Man, Obito monitored Chen Feng’s group in the Land of Water. Recognizing the Old Celestial Master as a dangerous Taoist School powerhouse, he postponed his plan to eliminate the weakened Fourth Mizukage, Yagura Karatachi. He then removed his mask, revealing himself as Obito Uchiha. 57

Obito had previously placed Yagura under Sharingan genjutsu, leaving the Mizukage dazed for years. When he returned to finish Yagura, he fought both Yagura and Mei Terumi, overwhelming them with Kamui, Fire Release, and a dark iron chain. Wang Xiaoer’s intervention forced Obito to retreat with severe injuries after the Soul Locking Hand temporarily sealed his ninjutsu and Sharingan abilities. 61 62 63 64

Following Nagato’s death, Obito took the Rinnegan and became Akatsuki’s new leader. He recruited Yakushi Kabuto to prepare Impure World Reincarnation, combining Kabuto’s revived shinobi with an army of 100,000 White Zetsu for war against the Taoist Alliance and the Five Great Shinobi Villages. 102 105 106
