History
Kakashi invited Chen Feng and Xiao Meng to Konoha after witnessing the strategic value of Xiao Meng’s World Losing Color. He viewed an alliance with the Taoist School as valuable support for a village facing reduced strength following the departure of the Sannin. 10 Chen Feng and Xiao Meng subsequently entered Konoha with Team 7 and met the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen. 12
During the Chūnin Exams, Konoha became the target of Orochimaru’s invasion. Orochimaru infiltrated the village while disguised as the Kazekage, took Sarutobi hostage, deployed a large-scale genjutsu, and used a giant snake summoning to breach Konoha’s defenses. 26 The attack caused extensive casualties and destruction; Sarutobi ultimately died after using the Dead Demon Consuming Seal against the resurrected First and Second Hokage. 29
The village then entered a period of reconstruction and succession disputes. Danzo attempted to claim the Hokage position, while the elders initially supported Jiraiya; Jiraiya refused and recommended Tsunade instead. 29 30 Tsunade later returned and became the Fifth Hokage, restoring Konoha’s Kage-level leadership. 54
Konoha faced further instability when Akatsuki members Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki infiltrated the village, and Kisame killed Danzo during the ensuing confrontation. 31 36 Konoha’s leaders nevertheless maintained a cautious relationship with the Taoist School, recognizing its power and avoiding unnecessary hostility. 39
After the Hidden Mist, Hidden Sand, Hidden Stone, and Hidden Cloud had joined the Taoist Alliance, Chen Feng invited Konoha to enter as well. Tsunade and Konoha’s elders accepted, judging that isolation would leave the village vulnerable; Konoha’s accession made the alliance the largest shinobi organization in the world. 94 95
During Obito and Kabuto’s large-scale offensive, Konoha was assigned thirty thousand White Zetsu, the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, and three Kage-level reincarnated fighters. 107 The attack failed after Itachi broke free from Impure World Reincarnation, stopped Deidara’s self-destruction, and destroyed much of the invading White Zetsu force. 111 Konoha later joined the Taoist Alliance and the other villages in the war against Obito and the Ten Tails. 112
By the later era, Naruto Uzumaki serves as Hokage and Konoha participates in the Five Villages Joint Exam. 195 The village is attacked during Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki’s attempt to take the Nine-Tails’ Chakra, with Naruto fighting to protect civilians during the evacuation. 197
