Background

Koraidon initially believed itself to be an Ancient Paradox Pokémon transported from an ancient era, where members of its species once lived in groups. It was separated from that homeland, captured by the Area Zero Research Institute, and left unable to use another Poké Ball while its original ball still existed. Its central wish was to find a way home. 270 272

Years after arriving in Area Zero, Koraidon and Miraidon learned disturbing information from the Scarlet and Violet Book. Miraidon went berserk, killing the original professors Sada and Turo; the two Legendary Pokémon subsequently became enemies. Koraidon later revealed that the scientists now operating Zero Lab were likely artificial intelligences created in advance. 382

The truth uncovered in Zero Lab was more complicated: AI Sada states that Paradox Pokémon were not literally brought from the past or future, but were created by Terapagos from human imagination and the depictions in the Scarlet and Violet Book. Despite this revelation, Koraidon continues to value its memories, its longing for home, and its chosen bonds. 386

Appearance

Koraidon is a huge scarlet, orange-red, reptilian Pokémon resembling an oversized Cyclizar while remaining visibly distinct from that species. It has jagged, adjustable back scales, a feathered head crest, long whip-like plumes that can spread into wing-like structures, and a body that can radiate sunlike crimson light. 268 276 293

Personality

Koraidon is proud, stubborn, and highly conscious of its dignity. It initially refuses to eat in front of Xia Chen's group, resists being treated as an ordinary team member, and dislikes fighting opponents it considers much weaker than itself. 268 274 302

Its pride is balanced by considerable kindness. It accepts Xia Chen's hospitality only gradually, praises Dreepy's weak but sincere medicine rather than discouraging him, rescues Sylveon during the battle with Orthworm, and donates a Heart Feather to revive a Dreepy soul despite complaining about it. 274 281 288

Koraidon is also sensitive and easily embarrassed. It conceals its enjoyment of food, healing, petting, and carrying Xia Chen, often responding with sarcasm or feigned indifference. Its growing attachment to Xia Chen's team leads it to reconsider its centuries of isolation and accept the possibility of a new family. 268 269 276 281
