Ning Fengzhi was reborn with memories of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School’s destruction during the previous life’s Soul Hunting Operation, as well as Chen Xin and Gu Rong’s deaths while protecting Tang San at Jialing Pass. This trauma initially drives him to treat Spirit Hall’s premature war as an existential threat to his sect. 6

When Spirit Hall begins its invasion, he correctly identifies Tang Hao and the unawakened Tang San as the likely targets of its campaign. He urges Emperor Xue Ye to protect them, viewing Tang San as the future key to opposing Spirit Hall. 6

Anticipating an assault on the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, Ning secretly relocates its core members and assets before Qian Daoliu attacks the Tian Dou branch. The abandoned branch serves as a decoy, while the main force is concealed at Blue Ba Academy. 10 17

After the collapse of his alliance with Tang San and his failed attempt to bargain with Ye Yuan, Ning is imprisoned in the Pope’s Palace Death Dungeon. His strategic instincts let him anticipate Spirit Hall’s true objectives, evacuate his sect’s core forces, and recognize that Blue Ba Academy is safer precisely because it appears an unlikely refuge. 6 10 17

His loyalty to Tang San is ultimately transactional. Ning initially gambles on Tang San’s future godhood, Hidden Weapons, and knowledge of Immortal Herbs, hoping these advantages can elevate the Seven Treasure Glazed Pagoda into the Nine Treasure Glazed Pagoda. 31 32 When Tang San’s information leads to Chen Xin’s ambush, however, Ning abandons the alliance and begins treating Tang San and Shrek as resources to be exploited. 34 35 38

Ning’s willingness to betray Tang Xiao and surrender Tang San demonstrates that, when his sect’s destruction appears inevitable, he places institutional survival above alliances, honor, and personal affection. 38 40 His later collapse is especially complete because Ning Rongrong had already independently surrendered the school’s intelligence and future weapons production to Ye Yuan. 42

Protecting Tang San

Ning Fengzhi initially treats Tang San as the school’s best chance to survive Spirit Hall’s expansion. He dispatches Chen Xin and Gu Rong toward Fasino Province, supports the rescue of Tang Hao’s group, and shelters the survivors at Blue Ba Academy. 6 7 17 19

Fracture with Tang San

After the Luoma Slope massacre, Ning recognizes that Spirit Hall’s amnesty decree is designed to provoke distrust. Tang San nevertheless suspects him of selling out the Clear Sky School and secretly prepares to kill him; Chen Xin suppresses Tang San before he can act. 32 33

Ning spares Tang San not out of forgiveness, but because Tang San’s knowledge of Hidden Weapons, Immortal Herbs, and godhood remains valuable. He confines Tang San and Yu Xiaogang, demanding their secrets as payment for the school’s losses. 33 34

Exploitation of Shrek

When Flander, Zhao Wuji, Ma Hongjun, and Oscar arrive, Ning sees them as production assets rather than allies. Chen Xin seals Flander and Zhao Wuji’s meridians, while Ning forces the group to forge Hidden Weapons and uses Oscar’s Recovery Sausages and Ma Hongjun’s flames to sustain the work. 34 35

Collapse and Failed Surrender

Ning sends Chen Xin to Sunset Forest after Tang San reveals the Immortal Herbs’ location and the potential of the Tulip of Romance. Spirit Hall has already taken the garden and prepared an ambush; Chen Xin returns mutilated and missing his left arm. 36 37 38

Convinced Tang San has ruined the sect, Ning orders Tang San, Tang Hao, Yu Xiaogang, and the Shrek members captured so they can be offered to the Spirit Hall Empire. 38 39 He later buffs Spirit Hall’s Titled Douluo against Tang Xiao in an attempt to prove his loyalty. 40

Ning’s submission fails when Ning Rongrong reveals that she had already supplied Ye Yuan with the school’s intelligence and treated the sect as her dowry. He is subsequently imprisoned beneath the Pope’s Palace, where he learns that the school has become an armory in Ye Yuan’s hands. 42 43 44

Imprisonment and Imperial Armory Service

Ning remains confined in the Pope’s Palace Death Dungeon after the destruction of his independent political position. During an attempted rescue by remnant forces from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School and Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, he is unable to escape; Yu Xiaogang leaves him behind while fleeing the city. 54 55

Once the Spirit Hall Empire unifies the continent, its leadership absorbs the surviving Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School members into the Imperial Armory. Ning eventually becomes responsible for armory logistics and weapons production, preserving a diminished remnant of his former sect only through compliance with Ye Yuan’s regime. 68 86
