Background / History

Yu Xiaogang is a reincarnator who retains memories of his previous life. Believing this knowledge would let him find Tang San early, elevate him beyond his former potential, and alter his own fate, he immediately rushed to Holy Spirit Village after his rebirth 8.

He arrived after Spirit Hall had ambushed Tang Hao. From the devastated back mountain, Xiaogang identified the Golden Crocodile King’s aura and the remnants of Tang Hao’s exploded nine-ring power, concluding that the timeline had been altered by another reborn individual 8. He then sought Tang Hao’s likely refuge with the Power Clan, only to find its estate annihilated. At the ruins, he recognized spatial Soul Power and the Seven Kill Sword’s aura, correctly inferring that Gu Rong had rescued Tang Hao, Tang San, and Titan and likely taken them toward Tian Dou City 9.

His pursuit repeatedly left him behind Spirit Hall’s operations. He reached Yue Xuan after Tang Hao and Tang San had escaped, deduced that they would seek the Defensive Clan in Longxing City, then arrived outside that city after the battle had already begun 12 16. His journey left him severely weakened: his Level 29 Soul Power was exhausted, his right leg was crippled, and he could no longer summon Luo Sanpao 14 17.

Unable to continue alone, Xiaogang returned to Blue Ba Academy expecting Liu Erlong to shelter and heal him. He reunited with Tang San in the academy’s rear-mountain refuge and resumed his role as the child’s teacher and adviser 18 20.

At Blue Ba Academy, Xiaogang judged that Spirit Hall possessed only incomplete foreknowledge. He proposed mobilizing the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon School, the Clear Sky School, the Four Single-Attribute Clans, medicinal supplies, and metals for Tang San’s hidden weapons 21. His plan failed catastrophically: the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon School surrendered to Spirit Hall, and Spirit Hall converted his proposed rendezvous at Luoma Slope into an ambush that destroyed the Clear Sky School’s reinforcements 27 29.

As the resistance collapsed, Xiaogang became increasingly paranoid and defensive, accusing the hidden group of harboring a traitor when the reinforcements failed to arrive 30. Ning Fengzhi later turned against Tang San’s faction, and Xiaogang was captured during Spirit Hall’s assault on Blue Ba Academy 38 39. Personality

Yu Xiaogang is intensely ambitious and bases much of his self-worth on Tang San’s destined future. His memories of having been ridiculed for his limited talent drive his determination to use Tang San’s rise to gain recognition, reshape his fate, and force the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon School to acknowledge him as its savior 8 21.

He is persistent to the point of self-destruction, repeatedly crossing dangerous territory while injured to pursue Tang San. However, this devotion is intertwined with self-interest: he returns to Blue Ba Academy not only for Liu Erlong, but also for shelter, treatment, and intelligence resources 18.

Xiaogang is also deeply self-deceptive. He mistakes Liu Erlong’s calculated avoidance and disgust for devoted care, which restores his vanity and confidence despite his condition 20 21.
